Looking for a UV Light

I'm sure this has been asked a dozen times, but "uv" isn't a valid search term here, too short.

I'm looking for a UV light around the 365nm range. My max budget is about $100, but i'd prefer something closer to $50. My goal is to be able to have objects fluoresce within about a 10 yard distance.

Size and weight are not concerns. My biggest concern is a reasonable power output. I currently have a $15 ebay special, but i'm looking for an upgrade..

Thanks.

Try searching "ultra violet".
Looks like there are a few good ones out there

Curious, are you trying to spot scorpions?

For true 365nm the Top Choice is the Nitecore CU6 UV it has 6x more power than the UV Tube. The Tube tests at 380nm (also try searching CU6)

the pic is a link: only the CU6 shows the Red Line on the $100,

What are you going to use the UV flashlight for?

So far most UV flashlights on the market are use able for 1 to 3 yards.

You can try the new Nitecore MT1U.

Looks affordable. Has anyone confirmed if the Convoy shows the red line on a US $100?

Thanks for the P60 money shot Overclocker!
eagletac/sportac 365nm dropin. shows red strip on $100

between those and the 3000mW CU6,

which choice gives the most UV power?

You can try the new Nitecore MT1U.

this one is 900mW

and here is a thread about a dropin.. I cant figure out the power of the LED, but I thihk it is 1000mW

which afaict means the CU6 is the most powerful

+1. The best possible solution. Nothing beats Nichia in wavelength precision. I have installed ZWB2 as well.

I have no $100 bill, but Euros shine like a Christmas tree.

Thanks!
I found a thread that shows the Convoy UV does light up the red line on the US$100
pic is a link to more info

The Convoy uses a 780mW led, so the 3000mw CU6 has almost 4x the power, (and costs 5x as much)

This might be of interest to you. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb...P-G2-UV-RGB)&p=4480596&viewfull=1#post4480596

Just need to figure out what emitter that is to make a really good comparison. It could be an older less efficient emitter. Of course for all out power then get something with a Nichia NVSU333A which is the big brother of the one in the convoy.

I have this Jaxman UV and loved it. Build quality is premium. Single mode. True 365nm. At USD25. With a built in filter to filter visible light.
Go to tinywind.com and search for jaxman u1 (not sure if I can post a direct link).

great link! if the OP ever comes back, he can see it meets his 10 yard requirement:
I have had a CU6 for a little while now and I find it a very well made… The CU6 can easily fluoresce items up that are 20-30 feet away

how many mW is it rated for, and can you show if it lights up the red line on a US$100?

For the records. Convoy S2+ with ZWB2 filter.

Thanks, works great for money!
So far the CU6 is the most expensive and the most powerful, so has the most range when spotting scorpions, but the Convoy works great for money, even without the white light filter.

Convoy S2+ UV, has a Nichia NCSU276A U365.
excellent info!

the following pics posted by djozz here with info on the excellent ZWB2 filter

The note with white light:

Nichia 276A U365nm with ZWB2 filter.

2mm ZWB2 filter reduces the transmittance at 365nm to 75%

I got some ZWB2 filters here that I dont need

I could only order 10 of em

It seems after Panjo ghot closed I cant put a WTS Thread up in the CPF Mall

round 19.8mm 2mm thick
fitting for all 20mm Flashlights like Convoy S2+, S3, S8

It terminates >99.8% of the visible light
360-370nm Transmission of 80%

Tested with Nichia UV emitter that has no white wastelight and not much visible light
all the violett is terminated only very few can be seen in the hotspot the camera cant show it properly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kItkf-SGxsI

It works great on 365nm Emitters which have some white wastelight
Jaxman sells their flashlights with this filter
