Introduced at the Detroit Auto Show in January, the 12 cylinder Audi A8 6.0 is the first production vehicle to utilize LEDs for daytime running lights. Until now, daytime running lamps utilized the existing bulb and lowered the voltage to reduce the light output. The Audi A8 introduces a dedicated lighting system using Luxeon for the DRL function that does not negatively affect fuel economy, system life or vehicle performance.
