February 11, 2004 (TOKYO) -- Nissin Electric Co, Ltd plans to debut the "Light Emitting Stick" in April 2004, a light-emitting module composed of a piezoelectric transducer and an LED.

When bumped on the desk or shaken in a container, it generates electricity through the shock, and the LED becomes luminous by itself.

Looks really cool to play with, though I doubt the beamshots will give SureFire anything to worry about. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I wonder if they could make something like that small... small enough to replace tritium vials in a wrist watch.

Shake your wrist and presto, instant 'glow in the dark'... no more radioactive material or slowly dimming painted hands and markers.
