It has been brought to my attention that we have been
keeping, and for no apparent reason, secret information
about hidden features of the Zzz...Lites. It was also suggested that I post that secret document here. If you're not familiar with a Zzz...Lite, here's the link:

web page

And, here's the "Secret Info":

WARNING! THESE MODIFICATIONS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY!
This information is not warranted accurate or correct,
proceed at your own risk.

Zzz... Secret #1 - continuous operation

Modifying your Zzz...Lite or Zzz...Flame for continuous operation:

We foresaw the desire to keep the Zzz...lites and Zzz...Flames running
continously and built it into the software.

WHAT TO DO ON VERSION 1.4 (NUMBER OF CHIP) UNITS:

It is necessary for you to make a connection on the circuit
board to activate this feature. Such will require a soldering
iron and the skill to use it. Unfortunately, on
1.4 units, the board is glued to the battery holder so the
jumper pads are inaccessible on this version. You can make the
bridge from the top side of the board (chip side) by soldering a
jumper wire between the negative battery pad (big tin square on
bottom left of board) and a small hole to the very right of the
negative battery pad. Making this connection will cause the unit to
stay on until it is shaken again to turn off.
CAUTION: there is also a small hole on the LEFT where two components
are, do not get confused and accidentally connect this one, it
may damage the unit or cause it to not work.

WHAT TO DO ON VERSION 1.5 and 1.6 (NUMBER ON CHIP) UNITS:
Note: This modification may not work on your unit. A code fork was discovered
which actually disabled this feature. Version 1.7 fixed that feature.
There is no way to tell if your version will work, you just have to try it. If
it does not work, be sure to resolder the cut trace. If you wish to try
the operation on your unit anyway, follow the procedure for Version 1.7.

WHAT TO DO ON VERSION 1.7 & 1.8 (Number on chip) UNITS:
The operation for this version is much simpler. Using a razor knife,
you will need to sever the small connection on between the
two small square pads (there are two sets of these pads). Sever the
connection on the set which is closest to the end of the chip
(bottom right corner of the board). Breaking this connection
will cause the unit to stay on until it is shaken again to turn off.
To restore the unit to original function, this connection must be soldered
closed again.

Zzz...Lite Secret #2 - Remote operation

If you want your ZLite to function via a remote switch or power, but do not
the unit to be turned on or off with the shake switch, you can perform the following
operation:

WHAT TO DO ON VERSION 1.7 & 1.8 (Number on chip) UNITS:
The operation for this version is much simpler. Using a razor knife,
you will need to sever the small connection on between the
two small square pads (there are two sets of these pads). Sever the
connection on the set which is next to the set closest to the end of the chip
(bottom right corner of the board). Breaking this connection
will cause the unit to ignore the shake switch and will only go off when it
times out or power is removed.
To restore the unit to original function, this connection must be soldered
closed again.

There it has - have fun guys!
