Airsoft Advice!

I remember there were quite a few people on the CPF that were into airsoft. Anyways, a couple of friends and I wanted to get into this craze. We were looking to buy 10 Tokyo Mauri M4a1 AEG's but no retailers wanted to cut us a good deal! (cause we dont have a retailer's license) Whats the best place to order the guns? Any places that would cut us a good deal for 10 of these babies? Thanks!

BTW, don't forget about all the mods you'll want to get after you get into it. I have a H&K G3SG1 fully modded out to put out that little BB at 170m/s on full auto.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

They have good service. Yes Hong Kong has the cheapest prices, but you also have to put into account the shipping ($20+ overseas) to the USA, it's just about the same if you would buy it from the states. I haven't bought anything airsoft for a while now. I have a TM M4A1 RIS myself and TM is a good brand. Hope this helps.

Try the Systema upgrades with the stronger springs, harder gearsets and reinforced gearbox. You'll obviously need higher voltage to drive all these too.. It's really nice to have a setup with high velocity as you can sit back and snipe people from a long way and see all their shots fall short of reaching you /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Most people here mod their guns to at least an M120 (120m/s). Doesn't sound like much, but it's much more powerful than the standard M90 (90m/s) springs that come with all TM guns.

High-cap clips are also a definite MUST in a long firefights.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't do much airsoft anymore, greg - haven't for at least a year, almost two now. My current AEG is an old TM P90 (not the P90-T) with the standard kit. If I wanted a gun that I could upgrade, I'd have taken the MP5's or maybe that nice G36, since I like SMGs and small guns. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif The Ver6 gearbox on the P90's not that forgiving of upgrades, IIRC, so I never bothered with the stronger strings or the gearsets.

Now, if I'm to do what you're suggesting, what setup would you recommend, AEG and upgrades? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I've got a lovely WA Prokiller MK II F6" sitting around for close-in work, and I've actually used this as my main gun for indoor games while going up against guys with AEGs - it's funny to watch their faces as they get taken out by a guy with a pistol going full-auto. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Needless to say, with THAT I have a lot of magazines on me, including the longer mags. But boy, it was fun to see them try to bring the rifle around before they got nailed. I know a guy who was a pistol specialist, and did that regularly in indoor games.

Now, OUTSIDE's another story. For THAT, what would you recommend? I'm about a year or two out of date.

If you end up getting an M4A1 RIS (instead of just the M4A1 from TM), you can mount crazy lights on your Airsoft gun. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've actually been out of Airsoft about a year, and I haven't had the the need to buy new stuff for a while, so I'm behind as to the latest TM models as well.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a variety of guns that I use, depending on the occasion. I have a WA Prokiller MkI (not auto) as my side arm. This isn't modified, but I do use green gas so it has some pretty extreme kick. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif For games requiring close quarters, I have an MP5SD, modified to M150 using the Systema upgrade kit with the full stock to contain a 10.8v battery pack. For long range, I have my G3SG1 with a Systema kit upgrade to M170 using a 12v pack and a 3x - 9x scope and bipod mount. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif Nothing like having a sniper capable rifle with full auto capability.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Most of the serious Airsoft guys I know have upgraded the external parts of their guns to full metal. I, on the other hand, have left the outside parts as original TM, but upgraded the hell out of the performance. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

From my understanding, the best/easiest gearbox to mod is the TM Type2, which is used in the H&K MP5 and G3 series. This was the reason I went with those two. Both my AEG mods have reinforced gearboxes since you'll need it for anything above M120 spring. You'll obviously need to check with the field you're using to see what limits, if any, they have on power. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Getting a group buy of 10 won't get you much of a deal in airsoft, even if you can find that deal. It will be hard to find a store that would even have 10 M4's in stock here in the US, then shipping would be really high too! I think best deal is to go to a local airsoft store and try to haggle some sort of deal with them.
If you guys are new, don't worry about all the upgrades out there right now. Play stock it will make you a better player, then later on when you upgrade, you'll know what your upgrades are doing... You'll also feel like Superman, now that you gun shoots 350-400 instead of 290fps.
