Spent a few days in the country and did a lot of nighttime hiking, looking for critters and various things that go bump in the night. My favorite hiking combo from this trip: a Gerber LX 3.0 for lighting up the area you're about to walk into (excellent flood), and my "Christmas toy" Vectorlite 117 for spotting. The Vector is lightwt. and feels good in the hand, is rechargeable, and has 3 light levels. Runtime is fairly short, but used intermittently, it works out fine. At $18 on sale at Home Depot, it is a great, cheap light to play around with.

i tried taking my LX 3.0 on a hike and i thought it was too bright. i still don't think any handheld light can beat the UK eLED for hiking.

how often did you use the Vector during the hike?
