Problem with Wiz2 converter

I just installed a wiz2 converter board into a 3 nimh AAA lux3 light. It doesn't work anywhere near like I thought it would. It runs fairly bright (but not near as bright as directly driven-maybe 1/3 as bright) for 1 min, then starts to flicker really bad, and gradually gets dimmer. After about 3-4 min. there is no useable light, and the led is just barely lit up. I tried running a lux 1 with the same results. I don't know if the converter is bad, or if I hooked it up incorrectly. I also noticed that the lux3 is not as bright as the lux1, no matter how it is driven.

What's the current the converter is supposed to deliver? Are you sure those aaa's are up to the task? Try firing it up with three aa's, if that works, your aaa's are to weak to deliver enough current over a longer period of time.

The AAA's are 850 mah, and the converter is supposed to deliver 500 mah.

Measure the input voltage at the converter, under load, to see if there is enough getting there.

Besides cells, also look for resistance in the input path.
