Since this is a regulated lantern, has anyone tried using Battery Station's AA Lithium primary batteries? I'd like to but BS lithiums measure 1.9V no load and I'm a bit hesitant.

I'd be a bit hesitant to try those. With the supplied Duracells, I found that the circuit board in mine got pretty hot all by itself with only a minute's use.
The top cover has a bayonet-style mount (like an SLR camera lens) and comes off easier than the battery cover (go figure). Try running yours for a few minutes on regular alkalines and then see how hot it is.
