Which mAh rechargable 18650 batteries to use in trustfire tr-3t6?

Xtar makes quite good chargers and wraps protection around cells for not much $ (their 18650's, they call them 18650's but same thing, are sanyos inside). I get their 2600mah cells for ~$15 a pair. AW is just a company that many CPF members are familiar with; their products are nothing special...

I thought I had at least a rudimentary understanding of rechargeables.....

If you don't want to research separately for each light, or find some that won't take 4.2v, there do exist ~3v lithium rechargeables. They're LiFePO4 chemistry and somewhat less capacity than the 4.2v types. Also, generally speaking, most non-crappy (ie buck driver, not 7135 current-limiter)...

How long should modern batteries last if not overused or abused?

Battery chemistries generally degrade a few percent a year in normal storage, so they just gradually get worse. They don't fall off a cliff. You can minimize this by storing with moderate charge at low temperature.

1x and multiple 18650 lights - The real deal on safety?

There's no magic from manufacturing things in the US either. Most batteries (like most things) are made in china, thus a likely statistical bias.

1x and multiple 18650 lights - The real deal on safety?

The risk is greatly exaggerated on this forum. The vaulted Surefires used 2x lithiums with fairly rare instances of catastrophic failure. Of course Surefire is magic and physics need not apply.

    Good All-Around L-Shaped Flashlight for <=$50?

That's pretty someone with 6000+ posts thinks a DOA light is typical from DX, or that a CREE driven at 1A is anywhere close to incan efficacy. Also, just because it's claimed to be R2 doesn't mean that it.

    Alternative to sky ray 3800lumen

That doesn't even make any sense. These emitters are in series so the voltage don't remotely match 1 emitter.

    Can Trustfire be Trusted?

That's been the case as of late :) More srsly though, moving beyond XML's won't be easy. There's only so big you can make the dies, and so big you can make the head of a flashlight to give it a certain focus. I hope the cheapo manufacturer will then turn to fixing quality instead of churning...

    Flashlight under $20

Get the xml. There's a reason they bothered to make it after the MC-E.

    Can Trustfire be Trusted?

Just get the 3800 3*xml light, and the skyray stl-v2. They're brighter than almost all the high end models, it's all diminishing returns from there. The downside is that you'll have almost nothing else to buy to beat them in sheer output, which is disappointing for a flashoholic.

    Fantastic Value Flashlights

Almost all the $50 range lights coming out from china right now (usually w/ xml's) blow away the prior gen ones of any price and branding. Most of the problems w/ "budget lights" come from people who pay like $10-15 including intl shipping from the absolute lowest price vendor and expect to get...

    TMR-73 : SMO reflector Flashlight 82,000+ lux

Thanks. Would you say the reflector's of good quality? It looks a bit worse than 66mm lens in the shot above, but maybe a bit better in that it has some flood. Someone also mentioned to you(?) built a version w/ the 75mm aspheric at DX, but I can't find the thread. Maybe you remember where you...

    TMR-73 : SMO reflector Flashlight 82,000+ lux

Sorry to reply to an old thread, but where did you get a reflector that large?

Which light throws best. torchlight c78, Sipik SK68, Romisen RC29

These won't really have better throw on 14500's than the 29 and in fact worse on AA since that has one of the most powerful boost drivers in any aa light. Have you tried the rc-29 on 14500?

    Advice Please

It's quite close to 1000lumens and it's properly regulated for 1-2 cells. The risk of single cell usage is highly exaggerated. Multi-cell setups are more danger and people still stick them 2 at a time in their surefires all the time because those can't even take 1 cell.
