IMG_1649_zpsxrobktvx.jpg

Shown next to a standard 123.

Knurling looks too light.

And the crowd chants:
We want deeper knurling!
We want deeper knurling!
We want deeper knurling!
We want deeper knurling!
We want deeper knurling!
We want deeper knurling!
We want deeper knurling!

Dan- Just as importantly, who does your bezel engraving? Inquiring minds... :) Not an EGA man myself, but interested.

Not EGA. Trident. Would be more appropriate for me to have the EGA though. That bezel just doesn't exist right now.
HDS has a guy in Phoenix who does the engraving. Was hoping the same place that did the Cerakote would be able to, but the samples for the engraving were not up to snuff.

And the crowd can chant all it wants, but it won't happen. I have spoken to Henry about this and the knurling will stay as is.

Any update on the new flood reflector?. Thanks.

Sent from my iPhone using Candlepowerforums

Nothing yet.

I know folks like updates, and when I have them, I do post them.
If I don't have them, I just talk about rum, elves living in flashlights, and post flashlight porn.

My apologies, sir. Thanks for the info!

Henry never confirmed what kind of coating is used, but I personally have a double shot of rum bet on a retroreflective coating, like on street signs. Something like this:

http://glowpaints.co.uk/reflective-paint-info.htm

It does not just bounce light like a mirror, which would be a regular focusing reflector, it bounces light back to the source, even when the source hits it at an angle. I have not tried this yet myself, just an educated guess.

Im glad the 18650/AA tubes are done. It looks like the little doo-hicky hole on the 18650 tube is different. Maybe an update to the rotary control? Or maybe it's just the angle?

+1 put me into the " it's a tool"category.
Don't get me wrong you want your tools coming out of the box cool and shiny to satisfy the " I got something new" bug we have all had since we were kid, but that's where it ends and I always feel relieved when that first ding/nick/scratch shows up because then you can just enjoy using a great tool that does exactly what you bought it to do.

The majority of purchasers here would like it to match in this price range.

+2 Unless you're going for Cerakote as per Hogo already mentioned. This pretty much guarantees color match.

I get it, but perfect ano on all HDS lights is a stretch ( it would drive my OCD wild, but I would cope) :duh2:. I believe they are done in batches per part, they will have slight variations from batch to batch. There might even be multiple vendors, who knows. Even SF has variances in there ano and per SF they do there own ano in house... ( Notably the HDS ano has proved exceptionally more durable than SF, my Cerakote HDS holds up better )......

Fenix will nearly always produce perfect ano and have found it to be very durable. The Chinese are amazing with things like that in manufacturing. I would also imagine they are doing much more volume per batch resulting in more consistency in color. As far as toughness goes.... HDS..... theres always a trade off.
