Re: The Lounge

I agree with you on GM customer service. I used to have an M5 and was treated much better at the BMW dealership. I have owned 4 vetted and liked them all my last being my Z06, great car performance wise but, cheaply built. My Cadillac XLR is 11 years old now, and still gets a lot of attention whenever I take it out. I went and drove the new vette, I would just end up getting more speeding tickets. I wish you good luck with your vette Wayne!

I love the XLR too. Too bad we are not near so we can swap cars for a day. I am mellow driver i promise :)

Re: The Lounge

Idk -
if u just love the way it looks than that's enough justification:)

If u wanted a drivers car than a spec Miata would be the call.
Super ugly and boring to look at.
Take it to the mountains or track & you'd understand why so many of the fastest drivers in the world love them.

Speed is sometimes more about perception & experience than numbers.
A hot lap in my slow drifty 100HP RWD Corolla was way more fun than one in a tuned AWD WRX or 300 HP FWD GTI.
Slower by 5-10sec but way more exciting.

Also, on mountain runs (especially on the downhills) the light little car was easier to push to 10/10th and the edge of grip than either of those other two cars.
Meaning I could always ditch my friends who had 3times the power.
Taking a wide tired super car or even a tuned WRX or GTI to the limits is scary thing!!!
Just my 2 cents :)

My other all time fav car I owned was a 1960 Caddy coupe tied with my beloved AE86.

Cars are amazing - they're art, tools and can give us the ultimate freedom.
I've even lived in mine from time to time!

Awwww :)

Funny, you mention two other cars I've also had. I had three miatas, stock, supercharged, and a fully modded Flyin' Miata turbo car, that thing was as fast as my Z06 and handled just as well. I also had a modded 340HP 2002 GTI, that car was stupid, torque steer was insane but, there's just something about a fwd burnout a block long :)

Who here has a legitimate use for 'good' flashlights? Not just an interest in shining bright beams at distant trees for the fun of it, but actually uses them as a tool to help do something in the darkness that otherwise wouldn't be possible or enjoyable without a quality light.

For me, I:

Hunt vermin for predator control (on the ranch) and use long range throwers to find distant prey and medium throwers (s200c2vn XML2 DD) mounted on the rifle for blasting them.

Use both headlights and edc lights at work every day to see deep into dark areas in daylight or light up tags, behind dashes, etc.

Enjoy seeing wildlife at night such as elk and deer

Sometimes need to see what is making strange noises or even illuminate undesirables trying to steal or cause trouble

hooking up stereo equipment

Camping (this is a big one for me- I usually have SEVERAL Vinh lights camping for various tasks although i could use a GOOD lantern.

Etc etc

I'm curious to hear about cops, firefighters, mechanics, search and rescue or other professionals and or causal uses for vinh lights and which models you prefer for such purposes ...ya'll have the floor!

As a former Cardiovascular Nurse Specialist and Chief Flight Nurse, I still manage to be the first person on scene at a number of accidents. My wife is also a Registered Nurse. We also have been just en route to a friends house and picked up a call for help regarding a 13 year old motorcyclist with multiple fractures. On any accident scene, good lighting can be of Life/Death importance. While I have an abundance of lights, at least 2-3 are used to both light up the scene(safety), let me see what I am doing and are helpful to guide others to the site(I have had both chopper pilots & auto based EMS friend say my "Light Sabre" is so easy to see from a distance).
Once the scene is secure, I use my smaller lights like my V11rVN to "dial it down a notch" and for close in work.
I also do Search & Rescue. However, most of the time the lights are used for fun activities. My 5 year old granddaughter loves to come over and always runs up to me and says "where are the new lights Grampa?" At 5 she already has a small collection going( she also can recite "the rules": never shine a light in the eyes of anyone or anything, never set down a light that is "on", if a light is hot, turn it off, only daddy or Grampa changes the batteries). The only Vinh light she has held was "the Tube", which she really liked "cause it is my size", so I bought her a stock one.
I may be off line for a while...what are the odds, a nurse from an open-heart surgical team having a heart attack while camping... I should be back soon...

Re: The Lounge

Ed-Sorry to hear, hope a speedy recovery from over the pond.

Some stunning motors you guys have:thumbsup:

Thats some feedback Vinh,WOW seems like you have similar customer service to us in the UK(in general). In fact the highest ranking car manufacturer for customer service over here iirc is Lexus.

I just think of issues as personality :)

Re: The Lounge

Question:

If this was the 1800s would we all be in a tavern comparing whos candle was brighter?

Would we laugh at noobs asking which wax, wick combination was better?

Would Vinh be selling top of the line candle lanterns?

Would tactical candles be black and normal candles be white?

Soooo many questions....

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!

Went out with the family last night to Pigeon Forge with no plans, just relaxing. My 10yr old loved looking at the mountains and local crafts.

A great way to celebrate Fathers Day.... Now for a family cook out at the in-laws!!!

Re: The Lounge

I also want to buy more American cars in the future! I am an American and I want to support America's automotive industry. Our auto industry is stepping up our game but we should have been dominating already. Yes all subjective but its how I feel.
I've only bought American for myself, but won't anymore. The quality is going down imo, and G2 has horrible service and customer service. The last vehicle we bought was a Toyota for my wife and we love it and the service from Toyota. If I were to buy a new car now it would be a Scion FR-S or BMW M3 depending on budget.
