I had a Baltic ultra-power in stainless 2AAA with momentary switch and loved that light. Very heavy though so a brass head, brass momentary with HAIII body looks very nice. The downer is my light was stolen so other people think it is very pretty so don't leave it laying around.

An Eiger #6 brass head, momentary switch, pocket clip with an HAIII body would be great. Now that there is an adjustable output switch coming out, I need to keep watch for my next penlight. Peaks never die, they just get stolen :(

wow, sweet looking 2xAAA setups! thats the beauty of the Eiger..there's so many combinations, and they're all great!

Great post, DwF. A beautiful description of some beautiful lights. And, your comments on the different Eiger beam profiles, tints, and power levels, are very helpful. (I am happy with my SS knurled pocket body #4, cool, narrow---pretty beam with bright and very even spill---and 4 hrs. solid regulated runtime).

Thanks for a terrific post, Walter.

Great review DWF! I will be placing a custom order for an Eiger 2xAAA penlight this week and I fully blame your review and pics. :grin2:

I have one comment about the following:

Enter the Baltic models. Peak designed and built a new light around the P4 LED, pairing it with a reflector sitting inside a larger diameter head than that used by the Matterhorn series, and driving it with a new electronic circuit to take advantage of the much greater performance offered by this LED.

No big deal, but I believe the Baltic model was designed around the Luxeon. I have two Baltics with Luxeon LEDs.

Any idea when the multiple output tail switch for the Eiger or El Capitan becomes available?

I'm going to get a new key chain light and single AA light in the next couple of months and wonder how that switch would work. It would be great to spec say, a #6 on the El Capitan so I can get 2 hours (?) run time on max and then get much longer run times on the lower levels.

If that is how it works, this would be a very custom light with many options.

Very nice review. I've been very interested in these lights for awhile. If I could figure out all the options I'd get one. So many choices!

Curt, some info please. Thanks

I recently ordered a Peak Eiger Penlight in HA with a momentary switch (Level 8, medium optic). Have been EDCing it for a handful of days now. Quite happy with it. A bit surprised that it came with a stainless steel tailcap switch installed. But, the S.S. tailcap looks good on the HA body.

I tend to prefer a momentary switch on my main light. I also tend to prefer single-output, bright-as-Hell, illumination on my main light. What I wanted was a back-up light that could function the same way as my main light. I decided that a short and fat light just wasn't for me. My idea of a smaller back-up light is one that is thin and long; or penlight sized. Problem is, there really aren't too many good options in that particular style. (At least not if you want a ton of output).

No regrets with this, my very first Peak light. This thing is SWEET!

Throw is definitely limited outdoors. But the beam is gorgeous. Just the absolute tiny hint of blue. You won't see it unless you really look for it. The beam doesn't suffer from a distinct hotspot along with sidespill. It's just one, beautiful, even, output of light. Reminds me of my Novatac 120P. And that's definitely a good thing.

I would have liked a more dedicated flashlight clip. But must admit that the pen-clip works very well on this light. (Works better than the pen-clip on my two-tone 2AAA Mini-Maglite.)

Checkering is on the shallow side. But feels very secure in the hand. The Peak Penlight is exactly what I've been looking for. An excellent back-up light with a momentary switch that is thin enough to carry in a back pocket or even a shirt pocket. Lightweight, and the length of the 2AAA configuration works well for me.

A special thanks to Dances with Flashlight for making this topic. If it wasn't for him, I never would have known that this particular Eiger variation even existed. (When I placed my order, I noticed that the Eiger Penlight was no where to be found on Peak's website).

Also wanted to mention the excellent way I was treated by Robyn when I emailed Peak with a few questions regarding the Eiger Penlight. Robyn answered all of my questions in a clear and very prompt manner. Total cost for me, with the particular variation I chose, was $69.95 (That includes shipping). Definitely worth every penny.
