Cree recently raised XPG max current rating to 1.5 Amp, stated spec up to 493 lumens @ 1.5A:

This light is designed to push XPG-R5 to its maximum spec potential:
The light uses 2 Li-ion with 2x800mA constant current driver wired in parallel to deliver 1.6 Amp total current to LED. I learned to use this driver from the original DEFT thread here (See post #1 for the driver):

This will push the XPG R5 over 500 LED lumens.

A new reflector that I am proud to introduce with this light: Hybrid Sputter Reflector:

• It's known CPF knowledge that OP reflector gives much better beam than SMO
• It's known CPF knowledge that SMO can out throw OP by 30%
• It's known CPF knowledge that the lower half of the reflector is mostly responsible for poor beam quality of SMO.
• Hybrid reflector (More OP on bottom half) has been introduced as a product by FM in the past, however, the top half is still OP not SMO: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=207494

The Special Hybrid Sputter Reflector introduced with this light for the first time, Light OP treatment only on the bottom half, the Top half remains SMO. As a result, this light is able to achieve perfect beam without loss of throw vs. SMO. Finally, a perfect harmony between perfect beam & ultimate throw is reached.

which is a very good thrower, the 5xCree/SMO module is already an excellent thrower, can out throw p7/MCE & SST-50 on OP Mag reflector.

Another great build, Ma! Not my kind of light, but someone will snap this up for sure, and enjoy it. By the way, I appreciate your signature. There is something joyful about participating in something just for the fun of it. Sometimes doing something for money/as a service can really hurt that intrinsic pleasure. Donn,

The heat sink is plug-in with Arctic Silver 5 thermo paste, not glued shut. The LEDs are hard wired to the driver/switch assembly. It can be un-pluged but you'll need to cut the wires first. Losen the switch, then push it down to expose the twin drivers mounted above the switch & the wires above. De-solder or cut the wires, transfer all the innerts into a new host & then re-solder the wires in the new light.

If you don't feel comfortable doing it, I am willing to do it for you after payment, send in your host & I'll do it for you.

Since you don't care about this host, I'll keep this Gray 2C & it'll be no extra charge on you.
