HDS now have their own brand 16340s which I would rather trust than anything on the big A.Coming back around to this thread as I try to switch over to rechargeable cells for my lights. Noticed that the Olight and Fenix 16340 cells are a little tough to come by lately on the big e-commerce site that starts with the letter "A".
However, they do carry "Rapthor" protected cells that appear to have pretty good reviews. Curious if anyone has specifically used these in their HDS?
Wouldn't fish any out of the big river.
A 3500 mAh 18650 has a seemingly bottomless capacity when compared with either a CR123 or a 16340. I'm a fan.
An 18500 would be pretty slick with a sleeve so you could run a single AA as well.
Would be between the length of an 18650 and 123. Running a Panasonic 2040 mAh 18500... that would be about perfect... and lets add a spacer to also run a single primary 123 as well. This would be my perfect TEOTWAWKI light.
A Hogo can dream.

So are eneloop pro nimh subject to the same fire safety issues as 16340 etc?
Trouble is the tube isn't cheap, add in the shipping and i could buy another complete light on the WTS.

Hogo! Not nice! Now I'm thinking that I should stock up on 18500 batteries! Do you have any insider info to share?!?
I love the size of the CR123 tube but the 16340s run out of juice pretty quickly, good thing it's getting colder and I have an 18650 tube with a beautiful holster.
