    XM-L Lumens?

I have noticed that 4Sevens has XM-L lights (Maelstrom X7) which they rate at about 480 Lumens while I am seeing other vendors on-line listing XM-L lights at 1000 lumens. I am curious about the large delta in lumens. Is the delta because they: *aren't the same type of XM-L LED? *are the same...

    SureFire Pen IV

Ok - here is an update to my last post. I was able to burnish the sharp edges enough to make them more tolerable. I changed the spring in the pen which made the click mechanism much more firm and punchy (took a spring out of one of my Fat Boys). I put in a montverde super broad ball point...

    SureFire Pen IV

Nice review. I Just received mine in the mail and I have to agree the vertical lines are very sharp...Too sharp.... I tried to smooth them out a bit figuring it was simply "rough finishing". I rubbed it against my T-Shirt and it cut "shreds" in the shirt (no kidding) - my wife was actually a...

Change of Heart. Long and thin vs short and fat ... /flashlights/

Re: Change of Heart. Long and thin vs short and fat I have found that when I am in business attire I tend to have a AAA light (fenix LD01, Illuminati Ti, or now the 4Sevens Revo). However, when I am in casual clothing and I can drop a leatherman in my pocket, etc....I tend to go for the...

    Arc 4+, Still a keeper!

It is remarkable how rapidly the technology behind these lights advances. Many lights that I loved are now collecting dust or have been sold off in the marketplace as they have become dated. However, I must say that one of my oldest lights is still one of my favorites.....my Arc 4+ In my...

4Sevens Quark more efficiant than RA Twisty

I have both Quarks and RAs. I have also owned Novatac, Arc, Fenix and Surefire to name a few. No question about it, the Quark is a great value for the money. They are well thought out, reasonably priced and good performers. (I have a preon, mini and turbo 123) That much said, the Quark and...

    Got My Illuminati!

Received mine yesterday. It too has a very gritty feel. It is night and day compared to my Fenix - the Fenix is silky smooth and this feels like there is gravel. I too spent a good chunk of time cleaning. That made some improvement but I have to get a decent lube. The ones I have at home...

    Preon Whine

Just received my preon today. Like others, I found the clicky switch to be a bit gritty in it's action and below the quality standards I had expected. While I can get used to it, what does bother me is the high pitched whine on low and medium settings. I saw from other posts I am not the only...

very unusual question, any jewelers here ?

The photo is "photoshopped". I pulled the photo of the light and the ruby off the web and and did some manipulations in photoshop. I thought it might give you some ideas.

very unusual question, any jewelers here ?

How about you try something like this.....Simple and elegant...Plus the ruby sets off nicely against the stainless steel.

very unusual question, any jewelers here ?

Instead of mounting on the lens, you might want to mount a nice stone on the case of the flashlight. Possibly a single stone on the side of the tip. You could also possibly mount multiple stones around the exterior of the case the way some watches have diamonds all around the bezel. I guess...

Lights that are outdated yet you still want for "nostalgic" purposes?

I've lot lights that are "more modern" - that throw farther and shine brighter, but this one (Arc 4+) is a classic that I still enjoy using. The fit, finish and feel are wonderful. I'll probably upgrade the emitter sooner than retiring it.

novatac bezel removal and lens upgrade question

I had a tough time doing it as well until I learned another approach on this forum. Get a pair of rubber work boots or shoes with rubber bottoms that have some tread. Push the light (bezel first) into the rubber sole of the shoe. It will grip the bezel. Hold the shoe with pressure against...

    Quark "Turbo" Thread

The heft factor is really subjective and I probably shouldn't have even used "quality" in the same sentence. You are correct - in some cases the absence of weight demands a premium. Similarly, in other cases it could be a sign that a vendor is trying to reduce materials costs. In this case...
