    I'm ready for a Surefire

I currently have a 6P with a nailbender XM-L drop in. It is a stock 6p(as in not bored), off 2 RCR 123s its putting out over 500 lm. You dont have to bore it if you dont want and the drop-ins can be made however you want them for around $50 not much cheaper than malkoff but the customization is...

Why would you want a variable frequency strobe?

Swedish169- I have also been looking for a light that I can control the strobe on at the frequencies your talking about. I am an engineer with the US Navy and a lot of the pumps and generators cant be stopped for minor inspections. We have to use bulky strobe tachometers for our equipment now...

    4 Pictures of My New 3 x XM-L 2x 18650 - Dangerous?

Re: 4 Pictures of My New 3 x XM-L 2x 18650 I only asked because I was in fact thinking of buying one of those from Manafont. I saw their name here and there and was considering.....well not anymore. Let us know how it turns out! Thanks for sharing, sorry your light arrived DOA I know that had...

looking for a really good edc thrower

I would have to agree with achimedes there, unless your looking to spend a little more money and time building a light that would fit your needs. Both of those suggestions are great if those are a little too big just go with a Quark. they still have a good throw with smaller size and price.

    4 Pictures of My New 3 x XM-L 2x 18650 - Dangerous?

Re: 4 Pictures of My New 3 x XM-L 2x 18650 Wow! That has a lot more than just your normal, off the mass production line, amount of shavings! I really hope that the manufacturer can fix this issue for you. who is that by the way?

Anyone have this light? It's made in USA.

I think I would be looking else where for a good body instead of hoping a bargain light with no manufacturer name has one. I can understand the yearning to mod it though, it would look good. I just don't see it holding up to any "accidents".

How many flashlights do you own?

Right now I am only at about 10, I stopped buying hosts(mostly surefires) untill I get drop ins for all of them. Still need a couple more. My favorites are my SF 6P for work and my level 8 Peak Logan as my EDC.

Want to get my first Surefire

I use Surefires for the simple fact that I can do anything to it and know that it will still turn on the next time I need it. I work in the US Navy as an engineer so every tool I use has to be able to take a hell of a lot of abuse. With Surefire flashlights I never have to worry that I will be...

    Solarforce and Malkoff-Drop in suggestion

Vesper has a point about the quality of the drop ins. You will just have to use the foil or copper tape like some drop in makers do. It will make it wider to eliminate the rattle and still provide good heat transfer. O-rings or electical tape will take care of the noise but then the heat wont...

    Why Surefire?

TwinBlad I made the same realization as you when I discovered CPF. There is a whole lot more to flashlights than I ever imagined. I found this site shortly after buying my first surefire(C2-HA). Since then I have purchased several drop ins of different application and functions. There is a ton...

My Quest for the Perfect Pocket EDC:

I agree with you both having two lights around is really the only way to be able to handle anything that could happen. Definately a small single cell light with maybe a few brightness settings or just a simple floody one. And your most prized SF mod riding shotgun for when you just want to scare...

    Beamshots: SST90 vs SST50 vs 50W HID!

I am with Troop#26 on this one. Can you tell us some more about the spring mod. Especially after seeing those pics I am very interested!

What light is in YOUR bug out bag?

In my BOB I currently have a SF C2 Centurion with a M60 drop-in. Those things are bullet proof and I will never hope for more light. I also have Ako-ray K-109a, the modes like SOS and low might come in handy and will run for hours. Along with that there is a box of 10 CR123's that should be more...
