GIANT BUMP!

We will have these available again next week. To those that have preordered or that I have told will be getting lights, you will be receiving them pronto as I'll have them prepped before the parts get here.

Thanks again!

Quick question. . .Is there any of these in the NASCAR finish? Or can one be had if one were available and then sent for modding? Please advise and thanks!

Here's what it looks like: (Hope it works and that I'm not violating any of CPF's rules!) http://www.action-lights.com/photo.asp?ProID=74

Wow those look pretty cool. Not sure how much color would be left after it's cut down though.

If you can get the body shortened, machined and bored, and sent to me, we could definitely get some HID internals done for it.

We now have 8 of these available again.

These ballasts are slightly different than the original-- they have a rubber bulb holder rather than the plastic one, and are more secure as well as helps the bulb with absorbing shock.

Again the price is $312
plus $4 shipping
with optional $3 insurance.

All colors available except camo, and there is only one remaining blue.

Please email me at [email protected] for questions and orders.

Thanks!

just wanted to chime and say that the new bulb retainer seems to work a lot better then the original.

Just to make sure - this comes with the battery carrier, correct? And the reason you can use Alkalines in the MagHID is because of the fact the voltage sags to 1.2 after the first minute or two? Trying to figure out if I should get this or one of the Powerlights - this has the 'uses easily found batteries' thing going for it, versus the custom batteries in a higher power 24W HID.

It does come with the battery carrier. You are correct about the alkalines being able to be used for that reason. Lithium batteries however, maintain voltage and will overdrive the ballast.

Another deciding factor should be size and power. A 24W HID will definitely be much brighter than a 10W, but you trade off size, weight and overall portability. The runtime on a 10W can be little bit longer to alot longer depending on which cells are in the lights. Hope this helps.

Can the ballast/bulb holer be changed/swapped out from the original one that is already installed from the first run?

It cannot be changed, but the difference is not significant. The original bulb holder was made of plastic, and the new bulb holder is made of rubber and somewhat "engulfs" the base of the bulb.

No performance differences other than if you guys want to use the maghid as a long fishing pole and need to swing the light outwards as hard as you can to catch fish with your HID's. Then, in that case the old version's bulb may come loose, and the new version will stay put :D

Please note, both versions should stand up to "lightsaber" duels if anyone is dressing up for halloween. :)

WOW, think you have any left next month? A bit tight this month budget wise. How do you accept payment? VISA, check, money order, paypal? Man, that looks like a good throwing light. ANy estimates on next batch or larger bulb version?

Waterfish,

I want to extend my sincere gratitude and relay that the MagHID has succeeded in returning me to that nirvana place, the absolute "thrill of a new toy on Christmas morning" feeling back when I was 7 years old. I'm a diehard flashaholic and lately been getting pretty bored with the SOTA LED happenings. I havent bought a Mag in 20 years (but I still have my 2 MagChargers and love em!) cause I've spent most of my focus on the LED and HID world.

I tried and was very disappointed with the Microfire Warrior (abysmal runtime on CR123s - 25 mins! - and beam was an artifact and color gallery) but ever since have been looking for a compact, well-built, variable focus HID. The MagHID is it, it is simply the BOMB! The form factor appeal of the Warrior is what made me look at your conversion.

I wanted something small and compact but carried considerably more photon firepower than any LED could ever hope for in this decade and most all commercial incans as well. Seeing as the light is Welch-Allyn based I knew I was dealing with world class components. I've had a Light Cannon 100 for 2 years so I thought to expect a very purple HID. Was I ever wrong. The difference is shocking. The MagHID outputs the nicest most color balanced "white" I have ever seen in an HID, besting my Sherman Tank Costco special and putting the LC100s to shame. Next to them, especially when focused to spot, they look completely purple compared to the MagHID's searing snow white. And I do mean searing. BRIGHT!!!

The only thing that significantly bests the MagHID in my little league of lights is the Acro x990. It is THE reference standard for me and my applications. But the x990 has one fatal flaw: its a BIG FAT PIG - an 8 pound flashlight!?! EDC for governor Arnie maybe, geez. Whereas the MagHID is a simple, totally solid Mag 2D chassis. Phenominal for so many uses.

But the most important thing and the reason (stealing from Dennis Miller) I'm off on a rant here is because this light for me has recaptured the spirit of the thrill of discovery, something FUN!!! What follows is all your fault, I'm now re-obsessed with flashlights but now I'm looking at monster incans - a whole new realm for me and I'm thrilled. So I'm throwing my money into a tungsten furnace to see if I can get a light to stomp all over the MagHID and x990. All hail USL but I want runtime AND cojones, lots of runtime and minimum maintenance.

The MagHID delivers: compact and powerful, effortless to maintain (with the bonus of switching to alkaline AAs in a pinch!), AWESOME runtime, excellent focusable HID beam quality. You and Ufokillerz have put your names on one incredible performer. Thank you both very much and I hope my excessive verbosity dosent make the post break the thread. Maybe this belongs in the reviews section. BTW, Jerry, when does that endorsement check gonna clear? 3 bucks a sentence, remember? I'll take my payment in trade instead. Just kidding. Best regards in all your future endeavors. This ones a keeper.

Sincerely:thanks:

ps the switch

An earlier post complained about the switch and its action. Personal opinion, but I completely disagree. The switch on mine is beautifully finished. Yes its a light touch, but the machining and countersinking of the switch (makes it quite difficult to hit unintentionally is a work of ART. What a PITA that must be to put that together! Bravo Ufokillerz!

With new Merkury 2500mAh NIMH AAa I got 2 hrs 15 mins CONTINUOUS runtime! This thing just continues to amaze me... pulls just 1A run current. Good thermal management, no "stress factor" there! What colors remain? I'd love to have another of these, maybe that last blue one...

Hey LUNARMODULE! I wonder if you can "light-up" China Man's Hat from the shore?—When it's REALLY dark of course, plus winter is approaching for darker days. . .

Love mine too! Running the Energizer 2500mAh. Seems to "appear" brighter than on alkylines. Haven't timed the duration, but does last a whole lot longer than the 1 hour and 20 minutes. . .

Enjoy!
