Back to my previous reply about my Centurion M2. My one has: 3 flat body with old style clip (without lanyard hole), SF crosshair logo with SN (A038xx) and Millenium series M2 Centurion on the other side (no US patents etc.); ribbed shock absorbing plane bezel with NO hot surface markings; tailcap switch with www.surefire.com and Surefire USA. Tail cap has slightly different colour - gray, whereas body + bezel are dark green. It came from SF authorized dealer, without box and accessories. I do not presume that dealer changed any part of it. Tailcap has a groove for correct position for operation - the same as body.

Any idea which version is it? It looks like gen. 2 + gen. 3 or gen. 2.5 ??? Maybe someone here know range of #SN for each generation...

Is there a functional difference between the two styles of shock isolated M2 bezels? Both being made for P60/61 lamp assemblies, heat dissapation can't be the reason for the different designs. Just curious. Thanks! :)

A modernized version of a Surefire Millennium Series M3P Combat Light with red secondary and a red glow ring with SFT25r emitters in 6500k tint for optimum throw.

Resurrecting an old thread. Not sure if any Millennium Series addicts are still following.

I just picked up an M2 and an M3 both with Crosshair logos. Both are mint and look like they have been stored since new.

The M3 came with the original box, but not the outer sleeve. The M3 serial number is A01235. Did all of the Crosshair M3’s come with a plain bezel versus crenelated? Would this be considered 1st generation? I like the look of the plain bezel.





The M2 serial number is A00648. I’m trying to figure out if it’s got all of its original parts. It’s 2 flat, older clip, Laser Products Fountain Valley tailcap. What’s confusing is that it’s got a shock absorbing bezel with the caution hot logo. The bezel also looks green in comparison to the body and tailcap, very similar to the 4th generation picture posted by @Rat . I know that Surefire anodizing isn’t always a perfect match between individual components but it seems as though Millennium Series anodizing is fairly consistent at least amongst the same generation. I also know that there’s a possibility that Surefire used whatever parts that they had available at the time.

Is it possible that this M2 came from Surefire with a shock absorbing caution hot logo bezel? Or did it come with either a plain bezel or a plain shock absorbing bezel?

This M2 was going to be a shelf queen so I’d prefer it to be original.

I think they often come with mismatched anodising from the factory. SureFire did not care.

Yes, HA natural anodising is notoriously variable even on factory fresh lights. It’s a lottery if you get matched/mismatched parts.
This may be why so many lights are in HA black nowadays, it’s much more consistent.
I don’t mind mismatched parts myself, you can’t see them in the dark anyway.

I think that Type II is generally considered a "cosmetic" finish, while Type III is more of a "protective" functional coating
