I am looking for a source for a backup 18650 battery for an Insight Technologies Arcturus LED light (IA).

The standard 18650's I have give a constant on when used in the IA. The IA'S 18650 battery has two contact rings on the negative (-) contact point of the battery instead of a uninterupted contact surface like on the standard 18650's I have.

I am in South Africa and the price I got from the Insight Tech distributor here is rediculous at around US$50 for one battery. :thumbsdow

Might be cheaper and easier to sell that light, and choose a different 18650 powered option. Solve the problem by getting rid of the non-standardized unit that uses proprietary batteries.

Yeah mdocod's idea could be a good one.

Other than that you could attempt to make a standard 18650 work with a bit of ingenuity (aluminum foil, duct tape, etc) but it would significantly reduce the reliability of the light in my opinion. Post a picture if you can so we can see what we're working with, some people around here may be able to give some hacking suggestions if you don't mind the minor risks involved.

Thanks Guys, I think you are right.

I hope others will learn from this.

I will try to sell the light.
