I am looking for a bright 1 x 18650 light using single Q5 (or better) emitter. I am aware of Dereelight, but what other quality units are out there with HAIII coating, OP reflector, forward clicky, etc. ?

Your choices are DereeLight, Wolf Eyes, SF Legos from Leef/ TNC, Lumapower...
and the superthrower lights from Tiablo, Regalight, EdgeTAC.

That's about it for quality lights... ie Forward clickie & HAIII.

I wish there were more choices but some manufacturers seem to go out of their way to exclude 18650s from working. :shakehead

Wolf,
This looks like an interesting unit - would welcome your review.
- OP reflector?
- Regulation?
- White wall beamshot & comparisons?
- Switch feel?
- Finish quality?
- Current measurement?

Would be very interesting if 2 or 3 stage offered!

I went to 18650 a while ago and currently have three LumaPower M1's. Mine are the second generation M1-XRE. I prefer the tailcap design of the older versions. I'm limited to the Cree P4 at the moment but am pretty happy with it for now. Throws nicely with the SMO reflector. I'm hoping LumaPower comes out with upgrades for older M1's.

M1-Luxeon -the original from 2006. (80L)
M1-XRE - with a Cree XRE-7090. (140L)
M1-Tactical: new tailcap design, momentary switch, other changes. (160L)
M1-R - basically an M1-T with a Rebel/100. (180L)
M1-T SE basically an M1-T with a Cree Q5, black HA III finish. (205L)

Older sales thread for reference HERE.

Battery Junction has the latest version HERE. They also have a couple older versions.

Last new light I got that took 18650s was the Gotham.

Too bad there are so few lights that take 18650s. AW now even has them with buttons.
