Hi folks, Here I have some more new toys for you.
These bodies are made from scratch to take M*g D head and accomodate 2 IMR26500 or 3 IMR26500 cells.
Will take this type of bi pin sockets and since bulb tower is part of body and machined from solid 6061 bar and there is no moving parts or extra connectors therefore resistance is almost ZERO which is excellent for higher current bulbs with minimum voltage loss.
Bodies do not use space wasting long switch so total length is much shorter than stock M*g. 2x26500 is 2" shorter than stock 2C M*g and 3x26500 is almost size of stock 2C M*g.
Each body is diamond machined with superior grip and royal look and comes with one head side o'ring and 2 tail cap O'rings, tail cap and switch boot.
All bodies and tail caps are hard anodized in Black, Red, Blue, Green, Gun metal gray, Natural gray, Nickel plated and Gold plated.
Picture shows 2x26500 body which is size of shortened 1C M*g.
Tail cap has attractive scalloped milling machined so can be used in stand up (candle mode) and you can use your strap too.
Tail cap can accept either version B of these switch NOT INCLUDED or I can install McClicky switch for $20 extra.
Installed McClickie is only an option for $20 extra.
Switch boot is easier to operate with choice of black or green GID
Will take all camless M*g D head, FM3 and FM3.5 heads (NOT INCLUDED)
Some M*g "D" heads are available here and Crown bezels are available here.

Why not?

If you use any of mentioned bulb in M*glite without poof is because of extra resistance in M*g switch which causes some voltage loss.

This will be possible with adding globe of tin on center contact of ROP bulb.

I don't recommend magnet since they may move.

I'm confused by your question, as all my reflectors are held in the head by the top edge of reflector and the bezel/lens tightening down against reflector. Otherwise every time you unscrewed a Mag head from the body/neck, the reflector would fall down from the bottom of head which is too narrow to allow that. There would be some degree of focus adjustment depending on the bulb size/position in holder.

Large edge area of M*g reflector seats slightly higher than edge of head and sandwitches between lens and head edge by bezel and it's o'ring.
Knowing that you need to use camless reflector in this flashlight, M*g body has 20 teeth/inch so each turn of head will travel reflector 1/20 of inch in (forward) or out (reverse) compare to bulb fillament which is fixed without moving and this will allow you to focus it.

Just keep in mind that with auto exposure, bright backgrounds often make for dark subjects. Hopefully, we can get one photo showing matched sets.

Just to clarify...

Is the retaining ring for the McClicky included if we don't opt for the $20 option? Or can we purchase the retaining ring separately?

I already have plenty of McClicky switches.
