Has anyone herd of http://www.solarlightcap.com/ (2c)? i allways have a clip on light on all of my hats, by cats eyes, but a couple of months ago i picked up 3 hats at Lowe's all for $5, the neet thing is that they had 2 led lights built into the brim of the hat, it was the last of there old batch and wanted to get rid of them so they could bring in there better ones, now by panther lights, i like them better due to the switch, you dont have to fuss trying to find it, also the lights are spread further apart so you get better coverage, but then i found out all the hats drained the batteries after i left them on the desk, yeah, i guess you got to keep an eye on them. so i started doing my reseach, i found on manufacture, that makes a lighted hat, that i found interesting, the lights are under the brim, and in-cased, along with the switch, the other neet thing is that its big on water resistance, and its solar powered, and of course its got morris code, and flashing,,, i was just wondering if anyone has tried them??? I'm interested in them but just don't like the price, I also wrote them asking if they would make ones that would use button cells,,, JR

looks promising, all the LED cap lights I can find around here runs on coin cells, which makes they cheesy novelty toys rather than a serious lighting instrument.

I made my own light hat... two Fenix L0D-CE Q4s on the right and left and a E1e + KL4 in the middle:crackup:

do you have a pic of that, that sounds neet,,,

There are a number of small headlamps, some of which can clip onto hats, and there are a number of handheld lights that can clip onto hats.

Small headlamps:
Rayovac 1xAA
Zebralight H50
e-lite
etc.

Small lights with clips:
LOD-Q4
LD01
E01
E1B
etc (long list, almost any single cell light that you can clip)

However, if you are using it for a significant amount of work outdoors, I would highly recommend getting a full size headlamp. They will easily go over top of a hat, and there are dozens to choose from over a range of prices.

the E1e is quite light, I'm hoping for a low so I added the L0D-CEs...but that turned out to be a real PITA. the clips are too loose and the light goes out of alignment easily...plus the clip wears out and the light slips at the slightest bump.

heres what it looks conceptually

beamshots: NOT to scale
the beamshot on low [way overexposed and yes, theres is a tint issue]

the beamshot on high, feels like wearing an apex and then some:)

I feel that the E1e is perfect...but could use a low, and no the KX heads are too narrow for the beam shape. Thankfully the KL4 I have on it is the old version [1xCR123A capable without sacrificing too much output]

I like Cats Eyes, that it fits under the brim of the hat, out of the way, not heavy, you dont know its there untill its on, my only problem is that the clips that hold it on keep snapping off, and i end up thowing them away, i dont need anything very bright, just enough to light the way down a path, under the kitchen sink, i have my other flashlights for brighter jobs. i tried writing them a letter to let them know about there problem, and that why should i pay $10 for a four button cell light, when i can get the same thing that does more for $2 and only a 2 button cell? but the email would not go though??? thats why i was looking at the hats with the lights built right into the brim, so i dont snap the clip,,, any help would helpfull, thank you,,,JR

OMG, do you get neck pains?

I'm a big fan of my SSC P4 E1 (the Fenix) on my brim... And since its my pocket EDC that works out great.

These 2C hat lights have a serious design flaw - some of the light goes onto your face! If your eyes can see the side of the led its reduces ability to see
stuff. The faces of the models should be totally black in the ads pics to show
the 2C cap light is well designed. But its not.
The leds should be on top of the hat bill (and be encapsulated for waterproofing).

heres what they sent me after i asked for info,,, JR

Thank you for contacting the 2C Light Company, based in Christchurch New Zealand

Our product was designed from the start to provide a potential life-saving feature – light when ever you need it for the expected and unexpected situations.
We use a US manufactured flexible solar panel that is large enough to give a good charge whilst the 2C SLC is being worn, or left on the car dash etc.

You already recognize the value of lighting integrated into your clothing – the additional advantage of battery free operation means zero on-going costs, always charging while you wear it, and the freedom from the pollution of battery disposal.
We calculate the 2C SLC pays for itself in six weeks and then provides maintenance free lighting whenever you need it. ( 5000 hours expected until performance reduction is noticeable )

Please take advantage of a special discount to help you should you and your colleagues wish to evaluate our high quality product. Use 'cols1502' during checkout for a 15% discount. ( We do not usually discount our new product, but like your evaluation to be posted to your forum – please let us know if there are any negatives before you publish. Thankyou )
Kind regards,
Simon
