3-LED Peak Matterhorn Ultra OK with Energizer E2 lithium?

I have a 3-LED Peak Matterhorn Ultra power. Is it safe to run it using an AAA Energizer E2 lithium primary battery or will the 1.6 - 1.7 volts overdrive the circuitry?

That is what I have been using in mine. No ill effects so far.

Mine was fine although the cell didn't last as long as I expected. I have an NiMH in it now.

I once asked Peak about the lithium batteries and was told they were ok to use. I have been using them in all my EDC lights for quite some time. They thrive.
