35 watt HID at Sams Club transfer the gut to 3-d maglite

I was wonder has anyone tried to take the gut from the 35 watt HID at Sams Club and put it in to a 3D mag?

The ballast won't fit in a Mag tube.

It's impossible, unless you'll get cylindrical ballast (with integrated ignitor) as tiny as 2'' in diameter, and then you'll have to extend the mag tube.
What is more, an unefficient ballast will get too hot in a short period of operating time.
