"4. don't charge in series without balancer leads going to each cell. w/independent c

Silverfox,

I exclusively use Pila cells, charging two at a time in the latest Pila chargers. Because of severe space limitations in my small apartment the Pila chargers are mounted and connected in a special shallow niche (5" deep, 12" wide 6 feet tall) which is completely open. I have an ABC extinguisher within handy reach.

Can I use this setup with a reasonable sense of safety?

It sounds good to me, but a picture would be worth a thousand words in seeing what you mean by your description. Pila cells with their own PCB charged in the most reliable, low current Pila IBC charger should be fine.

When we talk about charging in series needing balancing leads, we mean that there are 2 or more Li-Ion cells end to end with only a single Positive/Negative lead.

Your post had me go and do a re-enactment of how I started out using Lithium Ion cells shortly after joining CPF. Hopefully my stupidity/lack of education will be useful.

Thanks, that's helpful. Unfortunately I don't have a camera.

Hello Brightnorm,

The Pila chargers have an excellent record of use. I don't believe there has been any issues with them, other than a couple that wouldn't charge on one side due to a loose connection.

As always, it is best to attend to the charge, but I think you can rest easy with your set up.
