Being on a budget I need a cheap host to put a tri rebel star LED in so I came up with this........

I want to put this.....http://www.luxeonstar.com/item.php?id=5537&link_str=1430&partno=7007-PWC-10-3

A few thoughts..... After reading about rebels I am concerned that 3 rebels may generate too much heat and melt the plastic reflector. Also the reflector looks like it could be modified to facilitate the rebel stars 3 led.
I'm not sure exactly how many amps this SSC is driven at. I suspect around 700. If I pull it off, it will be a 540 lumen LED flashlight! Not sure if I want to yet, just and idea.

What are your thoughts and opinions?

Note that the tri-rebel star you linked to needs 9.45 Volts. The driver (If there's one) in light you start out with probably delivers about 3.2 Volts. I'm not sure if there's a driver available that'll deliver 700ma @ 9.45V with just a single 18650 or 2x16340's.

If it's solid under the star in that flashlight, I think it may be okay (not driving the Rebel too hard).

I'm thinking of using 3x10440 in a 3xAAA holder and use a resistor to direct drive the serial connected Rebel. The current shoudn't be too high, since 10440 doesn't have much power.

Thanks I missed that. Maybe a light with 2 18650's would be a better idea.

I wonder if the 9.45 Vf is the maximum allowed voltage. I looked at the spec sheet and there is no input info. I guess the best way to find out would be to apply different voltages with a power supply to see if it lights up.

In Ebay I buy some time ago this driver, I think this can work for this Leds...

Let me know...

The seller, how make this drivers answer me this can work with 13 volts or higher power supply and connect the Leds in serie....

I have tried the other PCB with three rebels where all the heads of the rebels come together. I have put it in a Mag host, but the three emitters don`t give a good hotspot. I have three circuits under a custom heatsink, for every emitter one circuit with about 800 milliamps to the rebels. I need to place them better under the heatsink and than try to put up some pictures.
