I posted previously about buying a 5x Cree bike light to mod for dynamo, complete with a standlight circuit on one of the LEDs. I was expecting something like this http://forums.mtbr.com/lights-diy-d...t6-led-cheap-ebay-light-questions-901483.html

...but the light I got has all the LEDs mounted on one MCPCB:
This interferes with my planned circuit (I wanted to use 4 LEDs for the main light, and then the 5th as a standlight, powered from a supercap charged across the 3rd and 4th LEDs). I can just about make out the traces under the top layer if I look at the board at an angle:
...so can I just scrape away the top layer and solder leads to the traces? Or is this pretty much doomed to failure?
