Just built a Rop and all I can say is wow! The only thing is my rop is a 5 D mag with 6 aa eneloops in c adapters and this flashlight is too big.

Users Fivemega and Modamag have both had them available in the past, don't know if they still have them available.

You can use 2 3AA-1D adapters from Litemania see Item 16 as well.

You would use these in a 2D light though, or with a spacer the size of 3 D cells in your 5D light.

Thanks for the quick reply! How well constructed are the Litemania adapters? Will thay handle 4+ amps?

I have some of the Litemania adapters they seem fine to me,but I havent anything to compare them with. Some have reported that they wont make contact with the positive part of the light and they have to stretch the spring(in the light),I didn't have this problem,I haven't had any problems with them.I built a 2D and a 6D ROP,Comparing the two with the low bulb the 6 D was very noticeabley brighter, using Titanium recharables in both,2400AA's and 11000D's.The 2D was pulling 1.8 amps on fully charged batteries and the 6D was pulling 1.9 amps,So I figured I had a resitance problem of some sort.I then did the braided soder wick thing to the springs and compared them agin a huge difference, still not as bright but much closer. My 6D is for the high bulb and does well, the 2D is for the low and I assume the high drain on the batteries is where the main loss is occuring. Many have reported of destroying there AA rechargables on the high Rop.So to anwser your Question,I dont know I wont put that kinda pressure(4amp) on my AA batteries, but for $3 whats to lose.Oh on the 2D I also lightly filed on the spring contact surface to gain a better contact.

Oh I just bought two more of Litemania's carriers so I must like them.I have to build a 2Dto6AA mag for the 5D Mag-numstar bulb I just love that beam.

fivemega will be producing his 6AA adapters again soon.

I really wouldn't know, I've never had occasion to do so, and I wouldn't find it practical to subject an AA battery to a 4 amp draw anyway. Quite honestly, I'd be more inclined to use a lead-acid battery for that kind of draw.

The Litemania adapters are plastic, and look like they may have originally been designed for some other purpose (like maybe being a 3AA battery carrier for a 3 cell light or lantern.) I don't know that I would use those for a draw that high.

Just remember that it will require NiMH or NiCD batteries. You might want to label the light so that some kind soul doesn't stick alkalines in it and blow the 5 cell Xenon bulb. For what it's worth, I've experimented with both the 5 and 6 cell Mag-Num Star bulbs in this configuration and I keep going back to the 5 cell for output level, color temperature, and run-time.

And for those in public safety, this combination will outthrow the SL20 series lights, though not a Mag Charger. And the SL20 lamp assembly will light up a room better than any Mag product.
