Hi all! I recently bought a cheap charger from Aldi for emergency use at work (bike lights!)

It seems like a bargain: 4 individual charging slots, full charge detection with auto-switch to trickle, discharge function...

However, apart from the long charging times (which don't bother me), the maximum AA capacity is stated as 2300mAh, as the batteries I use are sometimes 2800mAh. Not knowing anything about electronics, what would happen, good or bad, if I whacked these in? I am guessing these would charge as it has a stated maximum of 4000mAh for a C in the same slot, but I don't want to waste good batteries!

Many thanks in advance!

Hello Jack,

Welcome to CPF.

I will move this over to the batteries section of the forum and you can go from there.

Usually, there is no problem charging slightly higher capacity cells on a charger. However, sometimes the charger has a maximum charge timer that limits the amount of charge. There shouldn't be any issues with trying it out.
