Some time back there was a thread about putting a Inretech AA adapter in a AAA Minimag. We all said no, can't be done. Then INRETECH spoke up and said that early on they had made such and adapter but dropped the idea. I shot my mouth (fingers) off and told him if he'd make a LS adapter for a AAA Minimag I'd buy it.

I'm now the proud owner of Inretech AAA adapter number 1!!!

Notice that half of the reflector is missing. Well maybe not...pic isn't that good! Never the less, this light has practally NO abality to focus. The normal LS collimator will not fit and half of the reflector has to be cut away to clear the led.

Guess which one fits in the AAA MiniMag!

Without a lens to focus with this thing is a VERY wide angle light.

At 6" this thing makes a spot 12" wide! About 90 degrees! And thus a possible disappointment with the light...it appears dim! For those times when a spot light is not needed, this little gem works!
ADDED:
The protractor shows a beam of 120 degrees!

The other real problem is the batteries....AAA's don't last long. Here's the runtime plot:

I'm looking for a 5/8 inch acrylic ball to focus the light and I want to try some NiMH batteries.

Right now, this is a one of a kind light but never fear, I bet'ca Mike at Inretech will make up one if you talk to him REAL nice.

The LS is a push in adapter but unlike the AA adapter, the AAA ( added: adapter) has no lens and requires cutting away about half of the reflector.

Overall....a fun little light!

Hmmm Roy, wonder if Elektrolumens has a smaller optic via that aftermarket mfr. he found. Apparently they make a wide range of clear optics...might just drop him a line.

Thanks for your kind review on the product
There just wasn't much we could do about the beam output or the operating time - with those tiny AAA batteries

I really like the idea of the beam angle on the protractor - very good idea, lets continue this practice more - maybe make a nicer computer generated background

Please, don't anyone ask us to make a LUXEON for a AAAA flashlight !!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">That's NOT going to happen... I wanted to contact them to inquire about getting some of the old style NX01 optics made, but he refused me the information - citing a "confidentiality agreement"..

With such a small head, my assumption is that the one would need to use a colimator which focuses all the lights with as little spill as possible. This will thus bypass the need for any reflector.

So the question now is what source can provide this?

Inretech, would you consider making one more?

I will take it with boost curcuit or not! The two AAA M*g would work well for me .... The BB500 in a two AA M*g is too long for a small tool kit I am building. The Batonlite fits (5.5" long) a AAA M*g would work great. Need more light than the Batonlight and prefer AAA batteries over N cells. Survey says? 8)

Ok, It seems that people are now interested in them; I will make it a standard product

The price is subject to change, since it is a modified AA board which takes a little work; but I will think about laying out a AAA board

Again, don't get any ideas about the AAAA version please !!

While waiting for some 5/8 inch acrylic balls to use in focusing the AAA LS beam, I did something that looks to keep me busy for a while. I cut down a Luxeon Collimator to fit in the AAA Minimag. It focuses the light into a pretty tight beam as is, but still needs a LOT of polishing to get rid of the cut marks! The light was 6" from the target.

Inretech, i tried to order online and the ecommerce say that the transaction has been declined. Can you explain that? It worked the first time i ordered.

The problem is that if you are a returning customer, it uses your previous information

If you have recieved a new card; the system doesn't know that your expiration date has changed and therefor the Bank will refuse your card

If this happens to you, enter all your information over with a new profile, and it will work

Also, I am going to keep production of the AAA adapter limited until we can get the circuit boards into production

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Last night it refused me even though my card had not expired. After refusal I hit page-back to check for mistakes and then called VISA to see what happened. VISA said the charge had been submitted with a 2002 expiry, which is well before the true expiry, and did not match what was on the web page display.

I'd prefer to see PayPal Integrated into the payment page. I don't like entering credit card data into web sites, especially ones that might remember the data. PayPal is a lot safer for all concerned.

Mike,
I tried to order one of these AAA MM adapters but it or the price doesn't show up anywhere on your site. Any help would be appreciated.

Ohhhhh.... A AAA Minimag with a green LS in it would be VERY cool indeed! Any hope for one of those??

AAA LS minimag,
Thanks Inretech! My BB500 is now mounted on my bicycle frame as a redundant light (5w pencil beam halogen on the helmet) I need the AAA minimag for my little tool kit I carry around (Leatherman, 4" adjustable wrench, mini 4-in-1 screwdriver, metric/standard allen wrenches and tiny multimeter with Batonlite)
The guys at the shop (I work on medical equipment for a living) were marveling at the ease of reading chips and curcuit board traces with the Luxeon MiniM*g and I think they will actually open their wallets for a AAA Mag with the LS.
Build them...and we will come
