hi all,

i have a SF M4 and i was wondering if it is harmful for the bulb if you use the light repeatedly for like 10 second at the time. if so how bad is it?

thanks,

ko

SureFires such as the M4 are intended to be "flash"lights - intended to be used in short bursts and flashes - "light-and-move" and other "tactical" ways of using lights to gain the advantage.

I am not certain whether using a SureFire incandescent in this way will prolong the bulb's lifespan or not but I suspect that any difference between normal use and only constant-on full runtime use will not be obvious in the real world and it is not something I would ever be concerned about.

Yea, incandescents rely on the "burning" of a tungsten wire to produce light. The bulbs "burns out" when this wire becomes too thin in one area (the hotspot of the bulb) and breaks. Thus, momentary use will not affect the bulb life much if at all :)
