Well, since I recently picked up 50 AG13/LR44 batts for a light I broke today I'm thinking about getting another LR44 based light. Not that they are that good... or bad... But what the heck, they are typically rather cheap and useful.

Hoping some of you have some suggestions; led yellow/amber/red is prefered, but if there is a good and bright white one you know of... And of course, the more modular the better! Right now I'm looking at this one from dealextreme. I'm sure its going to be hard to beat the price, but maybe there is something nicer for not much more?

There are a few that I have found useful:
Walmart and Big Lots have a small combo gooseneck white (bluish) LED and a red laser pointer. The best feature is the very strong magnet in the tailcap. It also has a pocket clip. About $3. Uses 3 LR44 batts, comes with 3 installed and 3 extra.
The discontinued "Peanut" River Rock keychain light from Target. I have several unopened ones.
Coast has a 4xLR44 light that's been sold at Target under the Eddie Bauer brand (on the camping aisle) in silver and at Gander Mountain in blue and black. Around $10, but it has a forward clicky, is pretty bright and far outlasted some of my 1xAAA lights when I tested it. It comes with 4 batts installed and 4 extra... You'll probably never run out of batteries with the 50 you already have!
Dollar Tree sometimes has 3xLR44 clip-on gooseneck lights for <drum roll> $1. Comes in blue, yellow, green or red plastic. Nice for working inside a rack of equipment.

Streamlight,Key Mate is a good one,can be had with white led and snap on color filter at Brightguy.com.I have a green led one that I got at Cabelas some time back, dont know if it is still carried by them.

Hmm, I like the looks of that L1. The keymate is a nice light too, though; seen it at bass pro shops.

Wonder where, locally, I could find this L1...

Hello Buck91,

I picked mine up at West Marine.

There is an old thread on this light that recommends only using 3 cells with it and replacing the 4th with a conductive spacer (like a nut). 4 cells is overdriving the LED, but gives longer runtime. I have been using mine with 4 cells and it is still working, but may switch to 3 to see how well it performs.
