Ahh...there are days where Incan rules....

I love my E1e's. I love them so much, especially when I've got them paired up with a Lumens Factor EO-E1R bulb.

Today's been really dreary - lots of rain. The incan bulb is able to cut through the garbage that gets reflected back to me when I use either my shorty TW4 (VG 1x123/KL4) or my NovaTac.

So - as much as I love LED, there are some situations where Incan just rocks.

I much prefer incans over LEDs if it is a rechargeable incan.

I was pumped up about the recent gen of LEDs, and bought several of them.

Then I got an incan (rechargable), and I must say that I prefer the incan.

Personally, I think it's the cold weather that makes incans better.

During the summer I found myself packing LED exculsively.

Maybe it's the warm/cool color temps messing with my mind.

Ok I agree color is better than led. incans rule when you got lots of

I can't remember the last time I burned a bulb out under normal usage. I think probably never.

Wait a minute.. I guess vehicle signal lights count. Scratch that.

The rain started pelting my poncho-rigged for lean-2 shelter about 3:00am
near the headwaters of the Kern River -1994- I turn on the incan headlamp
to check things and the bulb flashes and dies. Ha! I've got a spare bulb
and have practiced changing it in the dark, which I do. It also goes
'flash' and is dead. So lightless in the rain and wind at 10,000 feet
I decide to go back to sleep.

This light had been working fine for the 3 previous nights and was now dead
weight for 4 more days of off trail scambling. - a 2AA red plastic incan crap
headlamp.

I often wonder if it was some kind of static charge thing from the various
wool, polypro, nylon, plastic, and the wind blowing electrons around ?

Hopkins more than likely it was not some form of static phenomenon and more so the fact you stated it was a crappy plastic headlamp way back in 1994.....regardless wind,rain and 10,000 feet must have been a crazy night with no light.

I often wonder just how much incandescents have advanced since 1994 as it seems Luxeons have been going strong with better stuff each year. I feel sure that todays incandescents are surely a little better than stuff from several years back but again it seems that not as much attention is given to advancing incandescents.

And Beastmaster I agree about the EIE and Lumensfactory combos....I find myself always going back to the EO lamp in the small but effective E1E. It is a simply perfect blend of size and output and with rechargeables it is easy to keep supplied with cells.
