Hey guys, I have an Aleph with the standard McClickie currently installed. I bought a flat tailcap that can do the hair-trigger activation, but does not have a switch installed.

The light I have is a single stage and I see that there is a smaller two-stage switch that will fit under the rubber disk of the Flat Top. Will this switch work in my light, or is there another one available? Can just a switch make this light a 2-stage, or does the cuircuit board need to be different?

Thanks,
SChwim

Yes, you will have a 2 stage light with the addition of the switch. It's a resistored low, so you need to know what resistor value to get. I believe the lowest offered is 15ohm, which is what you'd want for a singe 1x123 light, 45-60 is good for a 2x123 light, and I like 30-40 for a single Li-Ion.

All bets are off if you have the GD converter, which you do if you got the Cree XR-E A19 from the shoppe. Apparently this converter only really works on low with a 5ohm resistor, so you'd have to get with Wayne at the shoppe or something to special order one (I don't think they're in the drop down list when you order the switch.) I'd guess 5ohm would be a pretty high low, so maybe not worth the bother. With a higher value resistor you just wouldn't have a low, so you'd get the hair trigger and twisty, but no 2-way. I don't know if this does damage to the converter or not. If it did, then just using a dead resistor pcb would "bypass" the low without damage I'd think.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like too much of a bother for this shoppe build. I'll stick with what I have. I'm currently actually using the momentary E1E switch, which works great for tactical use.
