I don't have an E-Screw on hand, but I did some fiddling around with a sandwich and the old E-Cans while I was building my E-Pill. Since the sandwiches are built around the same 0.55" diameter converter boards, they slide right into the E-Can. However, they're too short, with the base of the emitter roughly flush with the top of the E-Can (basically missing the thickness of the E-Sink).
I assume there's a similar problem with the tolerances of the E-Screw, where the emitter will be set back too far from the reflector or the ES-Can will be unable to contact the body tube. This problem (assuming it exists) can be circumvented by spacing the sandwich forward relative to the E-Screw and extending the positive battery contact.
Finally, the sandwich needs to be held from going forward, and the system cannot interfere with the reflector/E-Screw contact. I think the Aleph 2 reflector rests directly on the emitter, so it wouldn't be a problem.
Hmmm. Now I think that a system is possible, though not necessarily a good idea. The housing is roughly an assembled E-Screw bored from the back to house the sandwich. The sandwich is inserted from the back, and a thin lip (think bottom of E-Can) holds it from going forward.
