I've been busy lately so I didn't have time to post a review or beamshots until now, mind you, this is my first review so take it easy guys.
Everything fits fine and smooth, no bind, loose thread whatsoever. The light seems pretty good quality so far, I will give it a 10/10 for its exterior quality.
My light seems to flicker quite a bit when I first started it, it changes color no less then 5 times before it reaches to "white" finally, boy, is this light bright!
I dunno if the 10 Watters would start any quicker, but I do find this light takes a while to reach full brightness, but what do I know, this is my first HID light. Tried to play around with focus with "white wall", it felt like the sun has come out again all the sudden
After I got used to the focusing, brought it out to the pier and tested the throw, to my slightly above average eye sight, the throw could reach up to 270m measurable distance, though, the reflection was so dim that I can honestly tell you that I didn't know what I was shooting at. It "might" able to reach further or it might not, but I'm sure 200m would be no problem. The beam pattern is only slightly better than the good old Mag honestly, but the sheer brightness makes up for it.
I tried to take some "sky shots" at my back yard but my suck @ss camera couldn't catch any of the beam, I'm still waiting for a semi foggy night so the beam can show in photos.
Although the throw is pretty good, I wouldn't mind to have an even tighter beam. I have been searching around but couldn't find any optical lens that would fit this light to make it a laser pin pointer.
I haven't have a chance to do a run time as the light gets really hot and uncomfortable to hold after running 20 minutes straight indoor, but I'm sure running it outdoor wouldn't be a big problem as I didn't find the light hot at all outside at night.
1 thing that worries me is the "residue" within the bulb, and I also found that the residue does settle in different location depends on how I positioned my light when I turned it off. I've heard theory saying that it's the condensation of the gas inside, and it turns into vapor as soon as the bulb heats up.
I also find my bulb look different than others in the other thread, with a wire OUTSIDE of the bulb (like many other brand of 24W). The wire DOES affect the beam quality and is easily altered if you didn't take off the reflector careful enough, it WILL be bent easily, but nothing short of a pencil can't fix.
Here is a photo of my bulb with "residue"
BEAMSHOTS
Max flood - pretty lousy beam pattern if you don't focus
Max throw - VERY bright
HID vs the legendary single cell throw champ D-mini (3.7V, SMO)
HID vs Civictor V1 - for a good laugh
Just want to note that the photos don't really do the justice, the Boxer 24W with either throw or flood configuration has enough side spills to bright up the whole 2 floors no matter which wall I was shooting at
Another shot up to the sky in the rain
Backyard shot
