Any one notice this in the Surefire 2008 Catalogue?

That's why we're so confident the new SureFire ArcLights are destined to become two of our most popular models of all time. Not much longer than a typical two-D-cell flashlight, they both put out a searing 1,600-lumen beam with 80 times the light. A beam with enough reach for law enforcement, border patrol, search-and-rescue, and maritime applications; enough stopping power to serve as non-lethal force in military applications; and enough bang for the buck to be a must-have for hardcore outdoor enthusiasts and "flashaholics" compelled to own one of the most powerful handheld lights ever made.

Yes! They do know about us. They didn't forget me either. "Outdoor enthusiast" LOL. Thanks SureFire! You rock harder than anyone!!

Some here believe that we have absolutely zero influence with regards to Surefire, to the extent that they barely know we exist. That's an interesting perspective considering that at least some of the past and present flashlight developments have their roots among the enthusiast community.

I'm really not sure why this resistance to the truth exists but some people just take a certain satisfaction in trying to make others feel insignificant. It does nothing for my individual ego to realize that Surefire does know that we exist but I do think it's neat that as a group of enthusiasts Surefire is interested in our activities and probably invest more time in the forums more than some might realize.

Events like the recent CPF Shot Show party, some of their new products, and now even clues in their advertising all reflect that Surefire is engaged in some respect with enthusiasts like us. Afterall, guys like Paul Kim are themselves enthusiasts, albeit very successful ones.

"Flashaholic" is a term popularised by CPF and has a broader context beyond CPF.

Certainly PK considers himself to a flashaholic - somebody interested in flashlights. More than just a day job. PK is a very special case.

In the past SureFire did have employees looking at internet forums (of which CPF is just one) where their illumination products are discussed. However, my current information is that SureFire have been far to busy to formally monitor internet forums for a couple of years now.

Just because the catalog nods towards the flashlight enthusiast doesn't mean that CPF has any influence on SureFire - the interaction is very much limited because in the grand scheme of things the flashlight enthusiast has basically no voice - certainly not when compared with the military and law enforcement communities etc.
That does not mean SureFire are unaware of flashaholics - it's just we aren't buying SureFire products in remotely large enough in numbers for SureFire to need to listen to us. If we stop buying SureFire products it may impact a few SureFire Dealers but I am pretty certain SureFire would not notice.

IMHO FWIW
