Anyone has a Ultrafire C2 Q5?

Is it true that it is direct-driven?

I don't have one so I'm not 100% sure but... 18650 version might be direct driven..
The 2 x CR123A version cannot be direct driven for obvious reasons.. (too much voltage)

btw, this Conqueror M-C1 Cree Q5 looks FAR more interesting for extra $10. It seems much higher quality and they are going to release a 3 x CREE replacement module for it later on. It has a very unusual driver/regulator on the tail clicky and has an instant on-off mode as well as 5 modes with a 10% low. I think I'm gonna get one. =)

Although it might just have a dropping resistor like an MTE light I got from DX. I replaced the resistor with a 3X7135 regulator and use a 17650 for power, and it makes a pretty decent inexpensive light. But I don't know about the C2.

I have it. The version from Kai.

Cant say whether its direct driven or not, it has a PCB. This fits so tightly that I couldn't remove it (didn't want to try to hard though). However, I would assume it has a driver

It works nicely with 7.4 LiIon, gets about half an A
OP Reflector (Aluminum) and glass frontglass

Switch is reverse clicky

Has a tight spot with enough spill to use it as bike light.

Guys thanks for your input.

I do have 2 C2 P4s and one is for a buddy in the Greek SF.
The question is whether it is wise to substitute his with a Q5. Being resistored is a no-no.

I kinda like the size myself...and the beam characteristic. Almost perfect for a weapon mounted light. Good throw and wide spill.

But the Conqueror has a longer and I think wider head so it destroys the form factor for me...But it is multimode and it is questionable if it can accept the C2 tape switch....

So many choices...

Whose got a 18650 version? Kai? I got the 1st one that came out and I was bummed that it wasn't made for 18650 like my original one was. You can barely fit one in, but the output suffers. A multi-voltage one would be nice.

But.. Someone at DX mentions that it is slightly dimmer with 18650.
Someone else says the brightness stays the same even with 18650.
So it does work with both 18650 and 2 x RCR123A batteries it seems.

Mine looks like P4 output when using an 18650. It's a big, noticable difference. It screams with primaries.

I think I got confused with the WF-400 which has 2 versions. =)
