Does anyone have beamshot patterns of the m61 and the m60 mc-e? I wanted to see the difference that the 20 degree optic in the m60 mc-e has over the m61.

Just turn on a 25 light bulb in a room and take a picture. There is your MCE shot. It has no hot spot whatsoever. Not only is it a 20 degree optic, but it has a diffuser pattern of some kind on the face of the optic.

The beam of these malkoff m60-mce are amazing!
I would sell my soul for such a beam...IF it worked with 3 NiZn AA cells (4.8V under a 1A load). Unfortunately, the Malkoff MC-E drops out of regulation below 5.0V and stops working below 4.5V.

I briefly used a direct-drive MC-E from Nailbender, driving it with three NiMH cells at about 3.7V under load. It was nice and bright, but not nearly as clean as the Malkoff MC-E. I managed to even it out, using a diffusing lens from flashlightlens.com. But output seemed to take a bit hit. For the same reason, I stopped diffusing my Dereelight XPG-R5.

For now, if I want a flood, I turn to one of my two Malkoff M31WF drop-ins in one of two FiveMega 3xAA bodies driven by three NiZn cells (4.8V under load). They are very, very nice--the next-best thing to an MC-E, and far more efficient.
