What does S.F. specifically, or Fenix, or any company really, what do they put on their threads when they put them together at the factory, and are any of those available for purchase to the public?

I've read advice based on whether the threads are bare Al or not, what type of O-rings you have, silicone gel eats silicone, petroleum is O.K. but it isn't etc. This would make it simple, I'd trust the company that makes them to pick one. But do any of these companies even recommend a particular product? I don't see anything of the sort in S.F.'s accessory page.

Yes, and so does the search feature. There are dozens of posts on this topic.

If 'lubricant' doesn't produce the results you want, try 'nyogel'.

+1 on that. It's amazing how many times this subject is brought up, I boubt the last one is more than three pages away. Perhaps it's time someone wrote a guide to lubricants and had it included in "Threads of interest".

It also doesn't help that someone doing a genuine search on this subject has yet another non informative thread to read.

Thought I'd get that in before this one gets locked down for eternity:candle:.

Sorry about that. I was hoping my O.P. would reflect that I had read some of the archived lube threads, just have yet to find the answer to my question.

B.T.W. do either of you guys by chance know which type of lube S.F. uses?

Thanks.

I understand what the members are saying about using the search function because yes it is brought up ALOT. Having said that I also understand where the OP is coming from on this one he is looking for a very specific lube and searching for that can take FOREVER in all the same old "What is the best lube" threads. Maybe not idk, regardless it should probably atleast been in the general light section.

Back on topic I to think Surefire uses nyogel.

Additionally the other threads do not cover when the manufacturer AKA Pelican Lites tell you to use one type of grease and it totally wrecks your O rings. Who are you to trust then? I haven;t heard this issue from anyone else

Here in Brasil I went to a diver´s equipment shop and asked for what they use to seal o-rings (of cameras, aqualungs, etc.), and they sold me some water resistant silicone grease (very thick). It looks like a dense foam (when it´s inside the tube, it does not take the tube´s shape, like liquid), but when you rub it between your fingers, it become more soft, liquid. After that, you could put it in o-rings.

It is perfect and cheap (about 5 dollars)!

And threads became very smooth too! :D
