Right now I have a G2 with a Wolf Eyes D26 drop in. I'm not sure of the rating, I think it was a 170 lumen at the bulb or something. I see there are others in the sticky that are over 200 lumens, are they newer versions or something?

Is there anything out there that is a comparable size to the G2 but offers a brighter light? I was looking at the Inova T3 but I'm not sure if it would be brighter than my WE G2.

You're not going to get a ton brighter than a 170 lumen drop in in a G2 without sacrificing runtime... and even if you do, a 170 to 200 lumen jump isn't going to be extremely noticeable.

I think it's the downfall of all of us; trying to tweak stuff to no end, get the most out of what we have.. or constantly looking for better or brighter lights.

With that said, there are a total CRAPLOAD of lights that fall into the vague category you described (G2-sized, as much light output as possible).. basically you need to be more specific with what you want (battery type & size namely) and how much you're willing to spend.

I'd check out the Fenix PD30 if I were you.

I'll take a look at that, thanks.

I don't really care about price as long as it's less than $100, I don't want anything huge, so something around 7" would be nice, and I'd like something that uses the CR123 batteries.

I also saw the EagleTac T100C2, how does that compare? Seems like it uses the same bulb as the Fenix, but doesn't have strobe function or SOS.

I would agree the PD30 might be your best option but if you want something other than black batteryjunction has some nice olive drab finish PD30.

Far as I know they are still the only one with the OD finish.

My P3D is olive finish, and it's really nice looking, I think I can honestly say that I prefer it to black. The "olive" is more of a 'natural' neutral sort of color, and it looks extremely nice imo.

The newer PD30 OD finish is much nicer and more real olive drab looking than any of my previous OD finish on older Fenix models. My LD01 is sweet to.

The EagleTac P100C2 is a great light. it has some more throw than the PD30 but not as much bright spill. The P100 is two modes while the PD30 is 6 including s.o.s. and strobe. Its a great light worth looking at but I still give the nod to the PD30 for its multiple modes, flood and spot(bright), and the PD30 is a bit smaller which can make all the difference if your looking to carry the light day in day out.

The T100C2 is whole different beast, more of a tactical light but some can EDC with no problem. Lots of throw. Great quality, better quality than the P100C2 or atleast from the two I got. My P100C2 had a couple chips in the finish, dust under the lens and a misalighned emitter. Its still a great light for the buck. My T100C2 on the other hand was flawless.

I prefer a the more "natural" color over OD anyway.. I only ordered OD because it was the last kind 4sevens had on that memorial day sale. It's great though, couldn't be happier as a person who refuses to spend $50+ on single lights.

Thanks. Still not sure if I want the T100CS or the PD30... I wish I could compare them both to my G2 as it is right now, I want to see how the beam compares.

Are there any drop-ins for these two or is that the most light I can get out of them?

Between those two it comes down to personal choice. The T100C2 has more throw bit the PD30 has wider and brighter spill. The T100 is significantly larger than the PD30, so it could come down to how you plan on using or carrying them.

The PD30 is my favorite EDC so i am a bit bias, but you have a tough decision indeed if you can only afford one right now.

I can afford both, I just don't see a need :)

I don't remember what "spill" is, I know what flood, spot, and throw is though.

How about the Fenix TK11R2?

I can't believe no one here has a G2 with one of the Cree drop-ins and either of these flashlights I'm looking at :(

I mean flood when I say spill. I sometimes seem to say spill.lol

I actually prefer the T100C2 over my Tk11r2. I like the twist head better it seems easier to twist. The T100 has no cree rings, the TK11 does. It seems my T100 also out throws my TK.

For the price the T100C2 seems the way to go right now. I might even choose the T100C2 over the TK11r2 even if the price was the same. One more thing I like the T100 has knurling on the head.

I ordered the Eagletac holster and lanyard with my T100C2 and glad I did there both great quality.

I see :)

Eh I don't know, I like the modes the PD30 has but at the same time I'm still unsure if it'll be any better than my G2 with the WE bulb.

You may have to continue to research the PD30, there is plenty beamshots and runtimes with opinions here on CPF. IMHO its ounce for ounce the best utility light I have.

If I was forced to keep just one of my lights it would be the PD30. For you would it be worth the upgrade? Probably only gonna settle that after you take the dive and get one. Best of luck to you.

Yep, I saw some beam shots, just none comparing it to a G2 with Cree.

I'll take a look at the Olight too.

EDIT: I read about the M30... It's bigger but not huge considering what it outputs, and it's a little more, but I'd be willing to bet I'd see a different compared to my G2 ;)

Well, after reading a review of the M30 and having it only give the output a 6.5 (probably because of throw) I'm not sure about that anymore.

Do my choices open up if I limit the size to that of the M30 and the price below $200? Are there any lights of similar size that offer such a high output with some more throw?

The M30 is not a monster thrower but it is a massive wall of light. Nothing I own personally even comes close to the amount of light the M30 puts out.

It is a well made light, very nice looking and very versatile. You can use 2x18500 and not have to use the extender tube and get a little over an hour max runtime.

If you you can handle the extra length vs. a Tk11 or T100C2 I would recommend it. I would also suggest you pick up a different holster than the one that comes with.

Check out the comparisons by HKJ, its one heck of a beamshot compare out the different high output lights. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=232369

Thanks for that link, tons of info there to look through. Man is it hard picking out a flashlight.

I'm only worried about the throw of the M30... though as long as it throws more than my G2 currently does I think I'd be happy. I know it produces a hell of a lot more light than the G2 does. Do you know if anyone tested the throw of a G2 with one of the cree drop ins?

There isn't any way to get a different reflector or head for the M30 to increase throw is there?

I'm definitely not thrilled about having to use the extender, it makes it too big for my liking. I'm not sure about 18500 batteries though, how do they compare price wise to CR123s?

I guess basically as long as the M30 will out throw my G2 I'll be perfectly happy. Unless there is a light that is comparable to the M30 in size (not any bigger though) and output, and has better throw, I think the M30 may be what I am looking for.
