Anything wrong with a Benchmade Ambush?

I'm looking for a larger "meaner" knife to keep my mini grip company, preferrably with combo edge. I know the Ambush is the lowly Red Class and probably made overseas, but its AUS8 and looks like alot of knife for the money:

Benchmade Ambush

I've also got my eye on this baby...

Benchmade Tanto Griptilian

This is of course, if I don't go ahead and splurge on a Skirmish, even thought they don't have a combo edge....

The coating on the aluminum handle will scuff, scratch off, dull, flake, chip and break the spell a really good knife can cast.

Three words: Spyderco Endura Waved. If you get this one and don't like it you can break both my legs and I won't squawk.

oregon

For the money the red class benchmades are great, but they are cheaper for a reason, not to say they are crappy, but you just get what you pay for, they are still good in comparison to other knives in the same price range...I ahve to agree with Oregon in that the waved endura, and delica are great knives as well, and fun to play with! the VG-10 is also a great upgrade considering what those models cost...

I have a tanto griptilian. Nothing to complain about. You already know about the griptilian lineup. Shown here with a mini manix.

Im Jelous...I Have always wanted a Sebenza to try out myself as well as a Strider folder, but I could never affor either one...Everytime I save up some money it has to go to bills...I gotta ask, what do you prefer, the sebenza or the strider? I know they are different and have different uses since the strider has a thicker blade and all, but overall if you had to keep one which would it be?

Off topic alert!

Hey Jeff. I'd say I would keep the Strider, but I bet the majority of users would keep the Sebenza. As you say, its completely subjective.

cheers

Yeah 2 different beasts all together, well thanks for the opinion..and I appologize for veering off topic...I just ahd to ask...I should have started a Private message though...

jds, that looks to be a Gerber E-Z Out above the Leek and below the Tanto Grip.
Griptilians are just workhorse knives, feel good, open good, work good and close good. And the Axis lock is fast, easy to use and fun to play with.

jeff, the sebenza is a classic, simple, elegant and useful knife. Love it. That said, if I could only keep one, it would be the strider. Built like a tank, cuts like going thru butter. More contoured, so a little more comfortable in the hand. still, those are two of my favorite knives, so I'd have to recommend, in true CPF fashion, "keep both!"

hey powernoodle, whats above the leek, i know all the rest but not that one...

I have that gerber too, lol, thats an older model, although they still make them today, I remember before bladeforums, and knifeforums that was the best knife I owned...back years and years ago, I sported that knife in my tackle box, I was too young to EDC anythgin being that I was in school most of the time anyway and coudl not...but when I went fishing I used it all the time to cut my line when it got snagged, or other cutting chores here and there...I think Walmart in some areas still sell that model too...It was very "expensive" knife to me back in the day, considering most of my knives when I was 9 years old cost no more than $5...lol, and that one was somethgin like $22...after I had that for a while I bought my 1st knife online, a Boker Top-Lock...Anyway just wanted to comment on that gerber, it served me well for a few years!

oh well. I find the full size striders to be uncomfortable to hold, lots of sharp edges and angles, whereas the sebbie is just right. If you are looking for a beefy knife for less money than the strider check out james coogler.

cant wait for my mini-cyclone zdp-189 titanium to come in. :)
