So heres the deal. I local pawnshop has this pair of goggles. I have inspected them and the exterior looks brand new. Everything works and functions great. I tried them on, with the lens cap still on, so i could still see via the pinhole.

When looking at my hand very close to the unit you can see two very faint black bars running diagonally across the image. Really only visible if looking at something that is completely flat and light in color. When looking around the store and such I could not notice them. The image itself was great and very bright.

Can you guys give me an approximate fair value for something like this. They were selling them for 2k,he said he would sell them to me for 1500. This was before i noticed the black bars. What do you guys think?

They are not allowing me to trade in anything towards them which to me is quite odd considering they are a pawnshop. Anyways can you guys give me any feedback on this unit and this specific deal? Much thanks

Are the bars very thin? Was it possible you were seeing a honeycomb pattern of lines? That's a pretty good price for gen III. Normally they run around $3k.

The bars were fairly think actually, and there was only two of them, it wasnt the honeycomb pattern. What do these normally sell for used? Hows ATN's reliability? I dont know much about ATn products.

Here's my take. Never buy any electronic item from a pawn shop. You can get the real thing by ITT from many authorized dealers for not much more money. It will even have a warranty.

An ITT PVS-7B with 64LPM resolution goes for right around $1,500 from reputable E-bay Dealers. That price is with CLEAN tube. I would not pay 1,500 for the goggles you described.

Sportsman's Guide lists the ATN NVG7-3A as having a Generation 2+ tube. Other vendors list it as a Generation 3. You need to verify the specs.

I have the ITT PVS-14, and ITT PVS-7. Both without any tube blemishes. I paid around $1,500 each for them.

k, thanks for the info as the auction is ending in the next hour and i was still on the fence. Ill wait.
