Dredging this old thread up from the depths...
I just modified an old Streamlight Batonlite with a Sandwich Shop BB Nexgen 750mA driver, SSC P4 U-bin, a reflector from Modamag, and a home-made heatsink from copper. I rolled up an old business card and slid it into the battery tube to act as a battery spacer to allow me to use 2 AAA cells instead of the three N cells. I had to cut a notch into the side of the lens to clear one part of the driver but this is below the O-ring so it is still relatively water tight. The frosted lens gives this light a smooth beam and it is plenty bright. I'd say that it's in the 75-100 lumen range. I'll get a chance to test it on BigChelis' sphere this coming weekend.
