i just purchased a MAG 3D P7 B-BIN, dont know much about electronics!

would it be better to use D-size rechargables?

would this give more power or runtime?

The P7 draws a fair bit of current from it's power source thus alkaline output will drop off relatively quickly so YES, I'd definitely go with some nice high capacity NiMH D cells (they will also give you a longer sustained runtime)

Your question is really to do with batteries for your light, so I'm moving the thread to the Batteries section.

Edit: I've also amended the thread title.
