I tried this in the LED forum without any success, so I thought perhaps someone could comment on this situation. I know that runtimes will decrease as brightness increases. However, does anyone know for certain that the new Nitecore EZ CR2 will even take rechargeable li-ion cells with: a. 3.0V and b. 3.7V? On the 4 sevens site it says "don't use batteries that exceed 3.0V." That may be an old message that doesn't apply to the new batch of EZ lites. I assume that message means we can use an RCR Cr2 of 3.0V, and that only the 3.7V is in question? I just don't want to endanger the light with 3.7V unnecessarily.

I would like to have the option and not have as large a carbon footprint as would be the case with Cr2 regular batteries. If li-ion is not a realistic option then I won't be getting this flashlight.

I have a bunch of UltraFire TR15270 3.0V non-protected cells bought from DX that I used in my SF Titan and LiteFlux LF4 without problems.

I now started using them also in my EZ CR2 and they work well. Of course you have to charge them regularly but protected RCR2 have apparently disappeared.
