Have you ever been tired of waiting for a battery to die so you just leave the light on to finally kill it?

I just killed my first battery in my Fenix P1D. I carry it more than just about any other light while I am at home. This means basically weekend use, working around home. It lasted over a year. Damn!

I bought the light off a couple who own a business that sells flashlights at the local gun shows. They started carrying Fenix lights on my recommendation and gave me the battery with the light.

I also killed the battery in my Fenix LD01. That battery is the original as well. That light is over a year old.

It didn't take much to finish off both batteries. Guess it was good that I finally did get rid of the old batteries. I would hate to have them fail when it mattered. Its also a good thing I rarely have only one light with me. To kill them I just left them on to see how long it would take to completely die.

Is there any real way to plan for changing out batteries other than just letting them fail?

These LED lights have such massive lifetime for regular usage that it blows my mind. This is why I love LEDs. Just amazing!

Alkalines will leak all over the inside of your light.

I guess if you're using a lithium primary cell it doesn't matter.

With some of my lights, they accidentally turn on, etc, and I have no idea how much battery is left in them, so I just swap out the cells daily if I used it that day (unless it was only for a few minutes)

This is why I was wishing we had high powered inductive charged lights or something. Never have to worry about their battery state.

And this is why rechargable batteries rock. You can start with a freshly recharged cell and know with absolute certainty the state of your battery. It also allows you to enjoy it's use more since you don't have to feel guilty about using expensive primaries, hence the phrase "guilt free lumens".
