thanks for looking
please feel free to comment
I don't get much traffic here on cpf compared to knife forums
but I know there are always some flashaholics (like me )
who appreciate some real hand made knives
cheers Jason

Actually it would be nice if everyone would leave a comment

damascus is so nice as material. i just cant stop lookin at it. (wouldnt dare to use one i think.. but i think i soo will need to have one to admire.)

so i definatly like that switch blade.. the bottom curve of the blade tip looks good to me.

the all rounder blade looks very useful too.. for me maybe a bit too wide blade? but its full flat grind that is a nice feeature on "slicer" blade.. it can make it truly an allrounder that can actually double as kitchen knife.

the oddity blade.. with those "holes" i like that hole idea.. the handle looks un-usable but i think its really not meant to be a a use knife, more like a showpiece.. and the holes demand to look at it. spacing of them is nice and i like them. just dont like the rest of the knife that much.

Edits: oh i thought that those holes were not thru .. only detents, as those would be cooler in my mind. (saw picture of the same knife in your other thread..)

i think that "hole" look on hilt and tail part of a handle might look interesting..

or make a another knife with scales that have that kind of "grip" area.. knurlings and grippyness via different sized holes like that.. i think i would like that. i just can feel it in my hand digging in. yeah.. smaller holes and bigger holes side by side.. big ones for palm and smaller aimed for finger area.. if i make any sense.

all in all.. they look great.

Amazing! Might need to think about a nice small pocket folder from you next month. Non- locker (UK laws). Just picked up a Wee Da to go with the skull you sent. Love your work

NonSenCe... thanks for your feedback
I value peoples opinion very much

on damascus and usage ... nothing is more rewarding than using a good knife properly for its intended use
I would recommend a good stainless damascus knife for just about any application apart from heavy chopping (or batoning/chopping up tinder)

they make great kitchen knives and edc pocket knives

the allrounder is a little fat but I wanted something fairly compact, it will be on a nice slim small handle like stag or giraffe bone

the oddity knife is pretty and quite different,so not for everyone
that is why I made it, but it is totally useable and actually very easy to hold in many different ways
I did spend quite a bit of time making it as friendly as I could for fingers by rounding everything out up to 1500 grit.

about knife laws etc ...
I can make nice fixed blade pocket carry knives for reasonable prices if you are allowed them (up to 3" I think?)
folders I make are liner lock style or friction folders
I do not make slip joint folders though
let me know what you have in mind :):)

cheers Jason

nearly finished the folder blade and some others
I will post pics soon
cheers Jason

Wow this is just amazing! It looks like a snake that is in mid strike! I love this knife. Let me know if it's for sale.......

as I said I spent a lot of time working it and it will need to be fully re-done after the heat treat and then polished
and a sheath is needed
not sure on price just yet
cheers Jason

Jason, I love the simplicity of the Damascus one piece knife (left in first pic). What are the blade and overall dimensions? Hardness?

Hi Rudi, thanks mate, this knife is quite special
it is mosaic damascus and the pattern is very tight,I actually
made a mistake when I was folding the billet and it got an extra
set of folds and turns
this resulted in a pattern I called optical illusion
its so fine the layers make your eyes go blurry (in a good way)
I've spent a bit of time looking at it under a magnifying glass

so anyway after much deliberation I decided to make this knife
a simple design as its all about the steel and its amazing pattern
I recently heat treated it ( I guess its at 58 rockwell) now its up for some careful hand sanding to get the best out of the pattern
pics will not show the real beauty of this but I would like to submit it in a knife show if possible
I reckon it would win best damascus

its 6 1/2" overall
3" blade and 3 1/2"handle
the lanyard hole is a star shape aswell
I will post pics of it finished in the next month or so
I have quite a few orders to complete first

anyway thanks for the enquiry
also your custom order is nearly finished
I expect to post to you this week
cheers Jason

Looking good.
I need to do a bit more "looking" before I order one.
I have already bought from Jason and it was a very smooth transactionand I am Very impressed with his workmanship.

cheers Launch Mini

I am making ready with a few more blades for a trip to the heat treat company
they do cryo sub-zero quench for outstanding results
it costs a fair bit extra to send them 2000 miles in the mail but its definately worth it

thanks derangboy

keep an eye out in the next month or so
I will post everything for sale here when finished

there will be lots of sheaths and polishing to do after heat treatment

anyone who wants to secure a blade for sale can do here and I have a for sale thread in custom knives at the marketplace

cheers Jason

WOW! Beautiful bladework Gollum! I'm still looking and trying to balance funds to get my first damascus blade... I think it'll be a while before I can afford one of these beauties! I particularly love the one piece, and the recurve. Absolutely beautiful :D

Just out of interest, where do you send them to be heat treated? I've been thinking of making my own blade for a while now, and I'm still searching for a good heat treater that doesn't cost an absolute arm and a leg (for a beginner).

Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex

Hills Heat Treatment Pty Ltd Australia

is the best place in Oz
they take care not to allow warping during the heating process and they offer sub zero nitrogen quenching

if cost is your main concern...
the best result can be had by simply taking your steel to its critical temp and quenching in peanut oil

it is the best medium for many reasons

first it is the correct viscosity,(pre-heat the oil to 45c
you can do this by plunging in some hot steel a few times)
second is it is enviromentally friendly
third it is just oil,no other unknowns from engine oil or diesel that have detergents and additives
peanut oil also has the highest flash point
its about $5 for 500ml
