best battery for the mini mag 2 aa

as the title says,,,whats the best battery for the mini mag 2 aa size,,,am curently using 2600 mah nimh rechareagbles,,,also just installed the terraluxtle-5k2mini star 2 extreme 5 watt led,,,is this any good ,,,or are they any better ones ? could i use li ons with this set up ?

Stick with the ones you are using they are just fine for that combination

Works with Alkaline, Lithium primary and NiMh AA Batteries. Initial output is slightly dimished with NiMh batteries.
Made in the USA!

Note: This is a 5W LED running at approximately 2.5W as the Maglite's plastic reflector cannot handle, nor can the body dissipate, the heat of the LED running at full output. Additionally 2 AA batteries cannot efficiently generate enough current to run this unit at 5W.

you could NOT at all run 2X li-ion, and i would guess that even a single li-ion fully charged might push it over its ability to regulate. which might work great for a While , then nothing. with a 5W led in there, you do not want to push it over, as they do not like that at all.
