Who has the best deal on a Princeton Tec APEX 4AA?

I am not particular about the lumen rating. 60 or 80 lumen is OK, as I plan on replacing all of the LEDs. I thought that with the new 130 lumen model being out now, that there would be a retailer who had them on clearance.

Thanks in advance.

Lighthound has the 60 and 80 on sale:

I've not seen any deals (mostly around the $50 mark) that were worth doing an upgrade on, 'cause by the time you replace the main LED you could have bought the new 130 lumen model and been done with it, not to mention the 5mm x 4 costs ... unless you just like to tinker (and I know you do) or hope to get more output by doing something sick, like putting in a P7 or some other bizarre LED variant. Good luck though!

Thank you! I don't know why I didn't check there during my search.

I want a VO tint Seoul U2 LED, and warm white Nichia GS 5mm LEDs. While I may end up with something close to the 130 lumen model, the tint will be superior. For a good headlamp, this is important to me.

Using a P7 would result in a very floody light, where I like the throw of the optic in the APEX. There is plenty of spill with the optic when using the Seoul LED. Sorry to say, I am going with a simple LED replacement.

Where are you getting warm white Nichia GS leds? I have a need for about 8 of them:whistle:

Better safe than sorry ... just a nice pair of sensible shoes for the Apex. Personally, I'm waiting till the new MYO RXP comes to America at the end of the month for ~ $90 to see how well it flies.

Me too! I bought some early GS Nichia LEDs for my Petzl Tikka Plus upgrade. Bright, but still too blue for my tastes. Some nice "warm whites" would be much better, though I need about a dozen+. Even our new Sears vacuum is on the block for some brighter, whiter LEDs.

Come on d-LED :poke:… give up your sources, or at least sell some of your to your "poor cousins". :bow:please!

Me too! I bought some early GS Nichia LEDs that were of the "C" variety for my Petzl Tikka Plus upgrade. Bright, but still too blue for my tastes. Some nice "B"s would be much better, though I need about a dozen+. Even our new Sears vacuum is on the block for some brighter, whiter LEDs.

I have some DS and GS from a group buy. I have just been waiting for a good host.

I have also had good luck buying LED's from Amilite in Korea. They had Seoul DSWOI P7's for a while, too.

Hmmm ... I guess it does sound a bit funny, in the context of complex upgrades to high powered lighting instruments. Still, it could use a boost.

I'm just glad to see mainstream manufacturers FINALLY using LEDs in common applications. I can't tell you how many times I replaced the running bulbs in our old vacuum, each time a huge PITA. Glad to be off that pesky little treadmill.

Happy to make you smile, even inadvertently.
